Metal Mario is one of Mario's Power-Ups. Mario can access this form by using a Metal Cap or eating a Metal Mushroom (sometimes using a Metal Box too).
In Super Mario 64 DS, Wario's exclusive Power Flower was the Metal power-up, making him the only character who could use it. He was able to walk on lava and freezing water, although would sink slowly and if he was fully in, he would lose a life. His vulnerabilities and powers were the same otherwise.
Ability
Metal Mario is one of Mario's most impressive forms, yet so simple. Metal Mario is (strangely) fully resistant to fire and lava. He can also sink easily to the bottom of the sea or any other body of water, so reaching collectibles there. However, he's so heavy his jumps are poor and he's kind of slow.
