Meowth's Party is a game developed and published by Fantendo. Originally planned as a game on the Nintendo GameCube, it never got through the planning stages and was instead included in Pokémon Channel. However, the game was picked up by Fantendo and was released on the Wii on February 7, 2009 in Japan, April 23, 2009 for the US and Canada, and May 15, 2009 for Europe.
Gameplay[]
As this game was supposed to be a GameCube game, everything had to be updated for the Wii release, implementing new Wii Remote controls, but keeping the old GameCube controls. Gameplay is very Dance Dance Revolution-esque as Meowth and his band "Meowth's Music Attack" play several songs from Nintendo games. As with DDR, you must press the arrows in time with each other, so misstepping counts as a loss.
The game has several modes. Exhibition mode involves going through a story mode esque adventure as Meowth and co. must clear every level. The Free Play mode allows players to play any previously-unlocked song they want, while Practice mode allows players to practice any previously-unlocked song without the DDR-esque arrows. Options mode allows players to adjust the game's settings.
Plot[]
Meowth's band "Meowth's Music Attack" is ready to rock the Pokémon world with an outstanding performance of classic Nintendo songs. As the competition heats up, so do the screaming crowds of fans, so practice is the key.
