The Croods was written and directed by Kirk DeMicco and Chris Sanders, and produced by Kristine Belson and Jane Hartwell. The film premiered at the 62nd Berlin International Film Festival on February 10th, 2012, and was released in the United States on June 26th, 2012. Mega Man X received almost certain positive reviews, and proved to be a box office success, earning more than $739 million on a budget of $113 million, and launching a new franchise, with a sequel and TV series already put in development.
At Light Institutes, Wily's newest robot is attacking the building. Dr. Light is killed in the debris and a robot named Zero appears, chasing Megaman. He decides to do the X Project, transforming him into a robot. When he comes out, Roll asks him what happened to Megaman, and he says "There is no Megaman". Zero then appears, and the two robots fight. After everyone evacuates, X attempts to destroy both of them by punching the building, but Zero makes it out. Zero decides to hibernate until Megaman X appears again, and he calls Wily.
In modern times, a Maverick Hunter named Sigma is alerted of a disturbance in Sector 5 in North America, reporting two dozen hunters dead. Sigma says he can defeat the problem easily, even scaring his co-worker. When they arrive from the bus at the sector, they find the ruin to be glowing. Sigma enters with his sword. Zero appears, but when Sigma slashes his sword at him it breaks. Sigma begins to leave by Zero crushes him. Sigma's retaliation activates, and he throws Zero into a wall. Sigma goes outside and tells his men to capture Zero, who has been knocked out.
In a flashback, Dr. Cain is shown unearthing Megaman X, and then developing the Reploids. Happy at his discovery, Dr. Cain hosts a party, but a mysterious force captures him. The reploids find out about Maverics, rouge reploids who hate humanity, and create a group called the Maverick Hunters to stop them. Sigma, the perfect reploid, is created, and is appointed head of the hunters. Back at present day, Sigma is shown caughing, with images of killing humans appearing in his head, but Sigma slaps himself to keep it out.
Megaman X appears to see Zero, but is surprised at what he finds. Zero reveals that the "Maverick" Virus was carried in his capsule, and that it turned him good. Megaman X realizes the even Sigma must turn bad with that amount of unknown virus; but when he goes to Sigma's room, he's gone. Outside the window, X sees Sigma terroizing citizens and spraying his "Sigma" Virus everywhere. X attaches his virus shield and jumps down, attacking Sigma. Sigma and his new solidiers run off with the hunter's tanks.
