Marvel (First) is one of the protagonists of the 2015 puzzle-RPG, Protocol. Marvel is a man in his late 40's who acts as a mathematics professor at a prestigious college. Marvel claims his real name is Robert James, though he has a secretive nature and is untrustworthy, making his actions suspicious. He is voiced by J.B. Blanc.
Marvel is a tall, slim, black-haired professor, often seen wearing a red sweater vest over a black dress shirt with matching black pants. His green eyes are often hidden behind two slim glasses frames, though he is capable of seeing without them.
Marvel is very sophisticated, and speaks in a polite, yet somewhat snobbish manor. He acts as if he is smarter than the other prisoners, though his ideas contradict his statements. He often speaks in other languages, such as French or Spanish, in order to confuse people, and make himself seem smarter, throwing in words from other languages even if they make no sense in the context.
Ernest Patricks was born on November 22, 2017 to York and Janice Patricks. Treated poorly by his parents, the government put Ernest in a private school far away, where traumatized and disabled boys were to study and live. Here he learned great lessons in discipline and took an interest in mathematics, which he later decided to study full time. When he was 22, he started getting into heavy drugs due to stress and loneliness, eventually being sentenced to jail for five years for various crimes, such as destruction of property, illegal drugs, rape and even murder. After being let out of jail at 27, he was forced into a rehabilitation program, and eventually became a gambler instead of a drug addict. He earned his teaching degree ten years later, and taught at various high schools across the country before they were closed due to the outbreak of SANI-T.
