SSB Fire Emblem Symbol

Marth (マルス, Marth) is a playable veteran in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. He was one of the first characters announced at E3 2017, being announced in the Developer Direct, rather than the reveal trailer itself. For the first time in the series, Marth has an English voice actor, Yuri Lowenthal, with his Japanese VA, Hikaru Midorikawa, returning once again with newer voice clips mixed with reused ones.

Like in his other games, Marth is unchanged the terms of his moveset. Most of his changes come from how his moves work, and buffs and nerfs to various attacks.

Changes[]

  • Marth's appearance is a mixture of his designs from Melee, Smash 4, and Fire Emblem Heroes.
  • Marth's walking acceleration has increased.
  • The second hit of Marth's Jab now properly connects.
  • Up Tilt now has hitboxes on the whole sword. This makes it harder to whiff the attack.
  • Down Tilt's range is longer.
  • Forward air is faster, meaning it can chain into itself twice, or chain into other attacks.
  • Down Air's Meteor Smash hitbox is easier to land, having a much less strict hitbox compared to Smash 3DS/Wii U.
  • Dolphin Slash is now invincible at the start up.
  • Counter is stronger.
  • Critical Hit can be stopped if it misses.
