This is a list of the events in Mario and SpongeBob at the Olympic Winter Games.

Events

Name Gameplay Changes in Dream Mode
Individual Slalom Eight players take turns racing down a large hill littered with gates. Two seconds are added to the time if one is missed. The best time wins. Four players race at the same time and the punishment for missing a gate is not enforced. There are item boxes on the track.
Team Slalom Same as individual, but a group of four races down the hill at the same time and there are no gates on the course. It is the exact same as in Olympic mode, except that items are used. Players can hit their teammates, though.
Individual Ski Jumping Each of the eight players get two tries to jump off of a large ramp after skiing down a hill. Points are given based on balance and distance. Very little changes are implemented in Dream Events. The only major change is the placement of item boxes on the ramp and in the air.
Team Ski Jumping Very similar to individual, but instead of eight individuals, four teams of four play. Each character only gets one try this time. Very similar to individual, but instead of eight individuals, four teams of four play. Each character only gets one try this time.
Individual Ski Cross Very similar to Slalom, but the course is not as steep and there are no gates. Eight players race for the best time. It is very similar to Olympic, but there are two laps this time as it takes place on a Mario Kart track. The same rules and items are implemented.
Team Ski Cross Instead of eight players racing, four teams of four try to race to get to the bottom first. The team with the best combined time wins. As before, there are two laps instead of one. Four teams of four also race, like in Olympic. Items and such are used. The team with the best combined time wins.
Moguls Individually, each player skis down a short course littered with gates. A score equals a mix of total time, tricks, and gates hit. N/A
Invididual Snowboard Cross On the same course as Ski Cross, eight players compete to get the best time overall but using a snowboard this time. The course is changed to a Dream course and items and such are used, but the event still retains its basic goal as from Olympic.
Team Snowboard Cross It is like Individual, but four players race instead of eight to get the best combined time overall to win the gold medal. The track is changed as before to a Dream Course and items are added along with other stuff along that line, but there are no major changes to the event.
Halfpipe Eight players snowboard onto a long, curved track, jumping off of the edges trying to get points. The player with the most wins. N/A
Speed Skating Four players skate around a long track to get to the finish first. Whoever does that first wins the event. Items are found around the track along with ramps, forks, and such along the track. The essential goal of the event is still the same, though.
Individual Short Track Four players race around a shorter track, but they go four laps around it instead of one. The player who finishes first wins. N/A
Team Short Track The same track is used, but it is a relay race. After one character does a lap, they switch to the next one and so on. Elements are added into the race course such as item boxes, obstacles, ramps, and such, but the event is still a relay race as before.
Individual Figure Skating Eight players can choose six classical songs to skate to and perform tricks to get points. The player with the most points wins. It is very similar to Olympic mode, but the rink takes place in a real Mario/SpongeBob location and the music is based off of that stage.
Team Figure Skating Four teams of four each try to get points on the ice rink. The CPUs score doesn't matter; the player's score is multiplied by four. Very similar to its Olympic counterpart, but as in individual, the rink takes place in a real Mario/SpongeBob location and the music is based off of that stage.
Ice Hockey Two teams of four square off on an ice rink using sticks to shoot a small puck into a goal, similar to soccer. It is very near the same, but on-rink hazards and other things such as item boxes are placed in various locations around.
Bobsleigh Inside a large sleigh, four players try to get down a large course in the fastest time possible. The team that finishes first wins. It's closely related, but the four teams race at the same time on a wider course. Item boxes are placed in various locations around the track.
Skeleton On the same track as Bobsleigh, players still try to get to the end first but they go on an individual sled riding on their stomachs. As with Bobsleigh, eight racers go on the course at the same time, but individually. The player who gets to the end of the track first wins the event.
Curling Four players on a team try to shoot four stones into a goal against another team. Whoever gets more closer wins. Instead of a goal, as in Olympic mode, there are bowling pins placed there. Aside from shooting with a stone, the same rules as in bowling apply.
Individual Triathlon Four players start a race using skis. Then they switch to snowboard and then bobsleigh. Whoever finishes first wins. N/A
Team Triathlon Similar to individual, but the other three players are teammates and the opponents have previously gone for their team. N/A
Snowball Fight N/A Two teams of four players play on a field. They can scoop up snowballs and get items to hit the other players. The team with the most points wins.
Individual Gliding N/A In a large arena high above the ground, four players on gliders are equipped with an infinite amount of shells and can try to attack each other for points to win.
Team Gliding N/A It is like Individual, but two teams of four play. Like before, items are found all over and flying obstacles can give points if destroyed.
