Mario Party is a party game spinoff of the Mario franchise.

Gameplay takes the form of a virtual board game interspersed with minigames. Players usually compete to own the most Stars at the end of the game, with coins being used to purchase Stars and as the main tiebreaker. Most boards are navigated by hitting a Dice Block and moving the corresponding number of spaces.

The characters create a new amusement park world, Mario Land, but squabble over who to name it after. When Bowser invades, they get to prove themselves across genre-fiction boards, with different costumes worn on each board.

When Mario and friends argue over who gets to keep the so-called Millennium Star, they are transported into a toy box world to prove their worth. Tumble offers guidance along the way.

Mario's clique tries to end a feud between party hosts Brighton and Twila. Day turns to night every three turns, affecting board mechanics and minigames.

After Bowser uses the Minimizer to shrink Mario and his friends, it's a race to reach each board's boss battle and collect the Sky Crystals.
Mario Party 9

Bowser vacuums the Mini Stars out of the night sky, spurring on a journey to stop him. Players take turns as the captain of a vehicle that moves everyone to an endpoint on the board. This is the first Mario Party game to be developed by NDcube, with many staff members having migrated from Hudson Soft after its merger with Konami.
