Mario Kart Upgrade is a new Mario Kart Game for the Wii U. It is in development by Moonlight Studios and will contain downloadable content. It is the sequel to Mario Kart 7.

Gameplay[]
The game still features the usual techniques of past Mario games. With the player being able to drive backwards and forwards. The drifting still complies with blue and orange flames for karts and blue flames for bikes. Wheelies for bikes are still available, as are tricks.

The game includes many features from past games.
- Mario Kart Wii - Bikes Return
- Mario Kart 7 - Gliding and Underwater Driving return from this game, as do Coins and Tricks.
- Mario Kart 8 - Anti-Gravity Sections
However, there are many new features
- There are 2 more weights - Fly and Welter. Being the lightest and the third lightest respectively.
Modes[]
- Single Player
- Grand Prix - Compete in 12 cups of 4 races each. 6 cups are new, 6 cups are retro.
- Time Trial - Complete three laps/sections of a course in the fastest time possible. Each time the player has three boosts.
- Coin Drive - Similar to Coin Rush from New Super Mario Bros. 2. The player/team must collect the most amount of coins either on track or battle course.
- Battle
- Bob-omb Blast - Mode returning from Mario Kart Double Dash. Players must blow each other up, using Bob-ombs.
- Balloon Battle - The most common mode. Pop each other's balloons and collect the opponents.
- Ghost Hunt - Shoot down ghosts using Green Shells.
- Double Dash - Hidden Mode, where players can drive two on a kart.
