Mario Kart Accelerated (or Mario Kart Off-Road in PAL regions) is the eighth and most current Mario Kart game, developed by Electric Enterprises. It involves backseat driving, similar to MKDD. Also, like MK7, kart customization can be unlocked, as well as some gliders and underwater racing. Many new and old characters return in this game. It is set to release in February 2013 (regions unknown for now). It will be for the Wii U.

GameplayEdit

Racing is much similar to Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, how you can race with two people on a kart. Also, like MK7, underwater racing and gliders appear. You can also gain kart customization. Similar to many previous games, coins reappear. They can boost your speed, but your total is added to a new feature, the Kart Shop. In the Kart Shop, you can buy new karts, cups, battle courses, and players.

	Mario Medium & Luigi Medium	Mario's that plumber in red and blue that's ready to get back onto the tracks! After all, what would Mario Kart be without Mario? Just plain Kart?	Fireball: Mario launches a fireball, which eventually splits up into seven smaller fireballs that bounce around, eventually hitting a player.	Red Fire
		Luigi is Mario's younger brother, and he's racing with Mario...on the same kart, though. Luigi has been here since the first racing game, so why not now?	Poltergust: Luigi brings out the Poltergust in order to steal three items, which then surround the kart. He can also stop players for a few seconds with it by sucking them in.	Green Fire
	Peach Light & Daisy Light	Princess Peach is the princess of the Mushroom Kingdom. Even though she's the princess, can't she get on the race track?...again, for the eighth time?	Heart: Princess Peach has three hearts surround her kart. When she hits an item, she is able to use it herself.	Heart Coach
		Princess Daisy is Peach's cousin. She sort of has a thing for flowers. She used to live in Sarasaland, but after the Tatanga experience, she's racing in the Mushroom Kingdom!	Mega Flower: Daisy plants a flower under the kart, which grows to a gigantic size. It launches the kart into the air, launching it forward and up to collect coins and dodge items.	Birthday Girl
	Yoshi Light & Birdo Light	Yoshi's that little dino from the island called, well, Yoshi's island! He's getting sick and tired of having Mario ride him, so he's letting Birdo ride with him!	Egg Toss: Yoshi throws an egg up into the air (which can hit karts in the air), then the egg rolls on land, eventually hitting a kart and exploding into items.	Mach Bike
		Birdo is that pink dino-thing that used to be Mario's enemy and a servant to Wart. She then found Yoshi, and now they're on the race track together...again!	Shy Guy Brigade: Birdo has three Shy Guys run around the kart, which then charge off to flip a kart when used.	Turbo Birdo
	Baby Mario Feather & Baby Luigi Feather	Baby Mario is Mario's baby self. Duh. In Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, he had an odd pet. But these are even odder...Yup. These. A trio of Fire Chomps. How can they be held??	Fire Chomplet Trio: Three small Fire Chomps are held by Baby Mario. He launches one at a time, which run for a few seconds and try to bowl karts over. They flip karts, but don't drag Baby Mario's kart. They also leave a trail of flames.	Soda Jet
		Baby Luigi is Baby Mario's brother and Luigi's younger self. He is in love with Baby Daisy and likes to ride on (or be saved by) Yoshi. Sort of a typical Luigi.	Chain Chomp: Drags the kart for about seven to ten seconds, then snaps off. It can snap off between the time, so it's not as good as the Bullet Bill. However, it is easier to get this than the Bullet Bill.	Jet Bubble
	Bowser Heavy & Kamek Medium	Bowser is the big Koopa boss. He is hitting the racetrack, but this time without Bowser Jr. He's going in with Kamek, his wizard and about third-in-command.	Bowser Shell: Bowser launches a giant shell, which bounces around and eventually smashes over karts, flipping them.	Koopa King
		Kamek is Bowser's wizard and Baby Mario's rival. He has kidnapped Baby Luigi multiple times, and now he's racing against him! He is going with his boss, Bowser.	Toady Trio: Three Toadies come and lift the kart up into the air, so attacks can be dodged. They can also gain coins in the air. This lasts for about five to eight seconds.	Magikruiser
	Wario Heavy & Waluigi Cruiser	Wario's pretty much Mario's rival. He also might be cousins with Mario and brothers with Waluigi. He's seriously overweight, and is working at WarioWare. However, he suddenly ditched Mona and went to the tracks!	Wario-Man: Wario turns into Wario-Man for five to seven seconds, tripling all stats during that time. He can also spin out karts in that period of time.	Wario Car
		Waluigi is possibly Wario's brother. He is a serious rival to Luigi and likes to fight Luigi a lot. He is once again getting onto the race track with Wario!	Banzai Bill: Waluigi throws a Banzai Bill, which rams into other karts and flips them off the track and into the air. It does not drag the kart, however, like a normal Bullet Bill.	Waluigi Racer
	Toad Feather & Toadette Feather	Toad is Peach's friend and possibly servant. He has helped her out before, but now he's riding a Cheep Cheep (that just sounds wrong) and racing against her!	Super Mushroom: Toad brings out a Super Mushroom, which boosts his speed and acceleration for up to twenty times of boosting.	Cheep Charger
		Toadette is Toad's assumed girlfriend. She is racing with Toad on the tracks. Funny, she debuted on the Mario Karrt where two players on one kart, and now she's making a comeback on the backseat!	Golden Mushroom: The Golden Mushroom not only gives Toadette up to 20 coins, it makes a wall of Brick Blocks when used (it can be used 10 times), and the other karts would have to go past them. 	Mii Medium	Mii is the mascot for the 3DS. They can be customized and changed. But no matter how much you change him here, he'll always be the same weight.	Customize Time!: The Mii Maker screen hogs up the other driver's sight, making it hard to drive. It demonstrates how you made the Mii you're playing as. During this time, you can also change Miis.
