Mario Kart: Stars and Bits is the 8th installment in the Mario Kart series, & this game is said to be released for the Wii U in early 2014. The name of the game is a spin off of the words "Star Bits" from the Super Mario Galaxy series. The project had been previously started by another developer (Yami no Tenshi), but it had been abandoned, with developer Mr. Marcelador Redernium (sku2000) taking over the project 10 months later.
This installment's gameplay rather similar to Mario Kart 7 for the 3DS, since it is confirmed that Mario Kart: Stars & Bits will include gliding, diving, kart customization, & more. The motorcycle (bikes) feature from Mario Kart Wii will be incorperated, with over 20 new bikes to choose from as well as the bikes from Mario Kart Wii. The previous developer working along side Nintendo had mentioned that these bikes would be in only a certain gamemode, but this will no longer be implimented. This installment will also feature 40 brand new courses based in various galaxies, 15 retro course remakes, & 15 battle stages (bringing the total to 70 courses).
This was the initial roster when the project had first started, but is subject to change in the near future.
