Mario Kart: Boss Blitz is the name of an upcoming game being developed by Nintendo, Inc. for the 3DS and Wii U. It will be a spin-off of the "Mario Kart" franchise, where Bowser and his villainous friends from the Mario series all have a fun day of racing.

Gameplay

Playable characters

Default

There are twelve default playable characters. The weight classes available are "lightweight" (yellow), "cruiser" (blue), and "heavyweight" (purple).

Poison 'Shroom Cup

Name Description
World 1-1 A three-dimensional cruise through the infamous level from the first Mario game.
SNES Bowser Castle 3 The first retro course of the game; a trip through the course with updated graphics
Shell City A course where you ride atop gigantic Green/Red/Red Koopa Shells
Dusty Gardens A bony course, mainly based off of the Dry species
Bob-omb Battlefield A trip through the first course from "Super Mario 64" and "Super Mario 64 DS"

Shell Cup

Name Description
Kamek's Egg Farm A trip through a magical field filled with a variety of Yoshi eggs
GCN Dino Dino Jungle A trip through the "Double Dash!!" course, with some updated features and tweaks
Launch Star Pull Path A course using items/elements from the "Super Mario Galaxy" series; these include Launch Stars, Pull Stars, and Sling-Pods
Wiggler's Garden A racetrack going through Wiggler's "party" garden, derived from the first board in "Mario Party DS"
Cosmic Mario's Wacky Worlds A course where some elements can be huge while the races are small, or the elements can be small while the racers are huge; the name is a jab at the cancelled CD-I game, "Super Mario's Wacky Worlds."

Fireball Cup

Name Description
Jumpman's Factory A three-dimensional playthrough of the original "Donkey Kong" game
3DS Wuhu Island Loop A race through the "Mario Kart 7" course
The Chompsworks A race through the "Super Mario Galaxy 2" course, where you can witness Chain Chomps being made.
Piranha Plant Forest A race through the homeland of the Piranha Plants...just don't wake the sleeping ones!

Name Description
PoisonMushroom2Poison Shroom The Poison 'Shroom gives the racer a boost for a short period of time. It can also come as Triple Poison 'Shrooms, which gives you three 'Shrooms.
FireFlowerMK8Fire Flower The Fire Flower gives the racer the abilities to blast fireballs either behind or in front of them for a period of time.
PoisonMushroom.Crowned Mushroom The Crowned Shroom gives the racer a ton of boosts for a period of time.
Purple StarmanStarman The Starman gives the racer the ability to become the same color as the item and become invincible (with a great speed boost) for a period of time.
LightningBoltMK8Bolt The Bolt gives the racer the ability to shock and shrink any racers in front of them. The affected racers also slow down.
133px-NSMBWiiCoinCoin The Coin replaces the Green Shell in this game. It can either be thrown in front or behind the racer, and travels in a straight line bumping things in its path.
Coin - Gold RedRed Coin The Red Coin, replacing the Red Shell in this game, can either be thrown forward or backwards and bumps into the racer closest to the Coin's thrower..
BananaMK8Banana The Banana can be thrown either forward or backwards on the track, and if any racers make contact with it they spin out of control. It can also come in a variant known as Banana Bunch, which gives three bananas.
