Then, Bowser Jr appeared and Donkey Kong said that he was probably the one who told Hammer Bro. to steal the Banana Hoard. Bowser Jr said that he didn't invade the island just for a 'bunch of lousy bananas'. He then holds up another shine sprite and reveals that he captured the Shine sprites so Bowser can use them to power his megacastle. Bowser Jr then takes the shine sprite inside the Golden Temple. Mario and his friends set after him.
Along the way, they encounter Dixie Kong, who has heard of their efforts. She then said that he also heard that Bowser Jr has allied with King K Rool and that King K Rool is bad news. Hammer Bro. then leaves, and Gooper Blooper starts rampaging the area. Pianta says that they got to do something and Mario and his friends set off to stop Gooper Blooper.
