Mario returns yet again to the Super Smash Bros. franchise in Super Smash Bros 5. Mario is still very balanced character who is great for beginners to play as. He aesthetically looks more like he does in recent appearances and overall looks less realistic. His move set is mostly the same with a few small changes.
Changes from Smash 4
Mario now has more combos like in melee
Mario's jab combo and tilts now are slightly stronger
Mario's aerials now do more damage but have less launching power
Mario's fireball's now do more damage
Specials and Final Smash
Mario throws a fireball which bounces of the ground and walls for a few seconds.
Ice Ball - Mario throws an iceball which does less damage but freezes an enemy for a short period of time
Mario swipes with his cape. This move can also reflect projectiles.
Shocking Cape - Swings an electrified cape which does more damage but doesn't reflect projectiles.
Super Jump Punch
Mario jumps high into the air with his fist upward. As it hits enemies coins will appear but have no effect.
Brick Block Jump - Mario spawns a brick block above himself and hits it making it burst into pieces which damage opponents. However his jump is smaller.
Mario pulls out F.L.U.D.D. and fires a jet of water which pushes opponents away. The move can be charged to push enemies further and by pressing up or down the direction it is being fired can be changed slightly.
Goop F.L.U.D.D - Mario shoots a stream of goop which damages opponents but does not push them as far. The goop will also slow down fighters covered in it for a short period of time.
Mario fires two giant spiraling fireballs which travel across the screen.
