Lynna Mercury (born under the name Liam Marsden) is one of the starting playable characters in the fighting game Eternika. Lynna shares her body with a demonic creature known as Thellia, which was summoned by her in the first place to unexpected results. She is the lead singer and one of the founders of a decently popular niche music group, the Dragonmark Killers.
Despite the harshness of her vocals and lyrics, she is a very kind person in real life. Her own personal experiences led her to gain a new vision in life and seek to help others in tough situations that appear to lack a solution or a way out.
She is one of the Descendants of the Ancient Heroes, with her family barring the Royal Family Crest of Mind. Her crest allows her to communicate with those that have an inmate connection with her, which she uses to communicate with her own demon parasite, Thellia, in combat.
Born in England, she was raised by conservative parents and raised in a catholic education, but she began to move away from her parents's ideology and religion as soon as she gained independence from them. She grew an interest in the occult during the school and was a part of a counter-culture movement inside her own school, which led her to be expelled once.
She and her friends from the school who shared similiar ideals with her began the band The Dragonmark Killers, an underground metal band named after a series of mysterious killer spanning centuries with only the commonthread of a symbol resembling a dragon, nicknamed the Dragonmark by historians.
Lynna's increase interest in the supernatural and her growing reputation among the music world allowed her to invest more in her curiosity, leading her to buy out a collection of summoning books from a recently deceased collector. One of those books turned out to provide an actual summoning spell, which summons out a demonic creature known as Thellia from the depths of hell into the real world.
As part of the summoning spell, Thellia takes over Lynna's body, but Thellia is a different demon, instead of being an obedient servant, Thellia is curious to learn the reasoning behind her mission, which was never told to her during her time in hell. She lets Lynna take over control her body, while retaining conciousness within Lynna.
Lynna is a calm person, even in the most dangerous of situations, she seeks to keep a calm head and approach the situation with a clear mind. She isn't completely emotionless however, if she is unaware on what is on ahead of her, her calm demeanor is easily broken as fear slowly creeps in. In normal situations, she is the caring, benevolent and compassionate. She is usually the first to ask if there is something wrong if she notices something out of someone else's normal behavior.
However, Lynna is also a tad clumsy and forgetful. More than once, her forgetful mind has led her to miss gig opportunities, leading her to have to pay for a proper manager for her band. She has a tendency of tripping or accidentally dropping objects. She often gets up to do something, only to forget what she was looking to do in the next room.
Her demonic parasite, Thellia, is not too different from Lynna. Thellia is extremely calm, almost cold sometimes. Thellia is very naive, as it is unaware of how the human world works. As such, it fails to notice cues from other people's speeches, taking everything literally. It is extremely curious and always asks Lynna about something it is not aware of, testing Lynna's seemingly infinite patience. Thellia seems to shown an nihilistic view of the world, contrasting with Lynna's optimistic view.
The only thing that breaks Lynna's common calm demeanor is prejudice against other people, especially transpeople - of which Lynna is one of them. She can be sent to almost uncontrollable rage when she sees some situation of someone showcasing phobic statements to someone that has done no wrong. Although her first instict is to get the person on the other side out of there, should the other person continue, Lynna goes for a brute force solution.
- Lynna's original name was Corshama. She was given a new name to separate any similarities with Hama.
- Lynna is inspired by Lord Raptor from the Darkstalkers series, Akira Otoshi from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure and the creator's closest friends.
