The Lunaters are underlings of the Moonlight CountDarkow and members of the Lunatic Nation. They all appear in Paper Mario: The Ancient Book. They're short and kind of weak if they're alone, but extremely loyal and smart. Their appearance is that of a skeleton-like head, with shoulder pads, robes and capes that cover their bodies.

Lunaters appeared during the events of Chapter 3 in the Merrycherry Peaks as they were searching for the Sunstone Gem before Mario defeated them. During Chapter 5 in Isle Verdozo, a group of Lunaters attacked Mario but failed at their attempts of defeating him while The Mooncrashers abducted Wario mistaking him for Mario. They were later encountered in Neon Capitale in Chapter 6, helping The Mooncrashers with their plans of ambushing Mario and co. but also failing terribly.

In Chapter 9 after Mario and co. was able to open the Crystal Sanctuary, Merlunar and various Lunaters managed to enter using their moonlight portals before Mario could do so. Mario encountered and defeated several Lunaters during his travels inside the sanctuary. The surviving Lunaters were forced to retreat after Merlunar was defeated.

More to come.
