Layton's Mystery Journey: Flora and the Nightfall Crisis is the second title in the Layton's Mystery Journey series, following Katrielle and the Millionaires' Conspiracy. Rather than Katrielle, the game focuses on an older Flora Reinhold, a former companion of Professor Layton, left to solve a case herself after discovering that the professor has gone missing.

Trivia[]

  • Flora and the Nightfall Crisis is the first Professor Layton game to be released on the Nintendo Switch.

Callbacks to Previous Layton Games[]

  • The glasses that Flora wears throughout the game resemble the ones used in her disguise in Curious Village.
  • Flora's hair clip is a golden apple, a reference to her birthmark and nickname.
  • Flora's apple-shaped birthmark appears in-game on occasion. This is the mark's first appearance since Curious Village.
  • Flora is startled by Luke's sudden appearance, calling him "Clive" by mistake, referring to Clive from Unwound Future, who disguised himself as the future version of Luke.
  • The "animal sidekick" of the game is Flora's cat, Dahlia. The cat's name is a reference to Flora's robotic stepmother, Lady Dahlia.
    • Dahlia the Cat is yet another reference to Curious Village, this reference being the similar appearance to the Reinhold family cat, Claudia.
