LEGO Pokemon: The Video Game

LEGO Pokemon: The Video Game is an upcoming game on Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS. It is in the Lego Nintendo Series, and was originally being made by A22 Games until they dropped the project. The game was then picked up Vined Inc.

When you start the game for the first time, you have to create a trainer. This works similairly to the way you make a character in the real life Lego Star Wars 2.

  • Important NPCs are seen moving around and living. Your mum is not always at her house, sometimes she is at your rival's house and drinking coffee. After they are defeated Gym Leader's often wander around their home towns.
  • Former starters can be caught.
  • New starting types.
  • There are now Dirt Bikes which can only be used in rural areas, not towns. They scare away certain pokemon but attract others.

Every Pokemon is featured in this game. You can also create new Pokemon similairly to the Trainer Creator, using parts from a few selected existing pokemon these are the trainers from the first four generations, Pikachu, Jigglypuff, Mew and the Baby Pokemon.

The game starts like most of the others where you start off in your hometown this time in the village of Burbong in the region of Mulwaree. The regional proffesor is Proffesor Willow and she gives you one of three starters (all of which were previously exsisting pokemon) are not fire, water and grass they are poison, ground and grass. The starters are:

Your rival also recieves a pokemon which will be the one that is good against you if you choose Croagunk they get Hippopotas, if you choose Hippopotas they get Exeggcute and if you choose Exeggcute they get Croagunk.

You must then traverse through the region and collect gym badges from the various towns, there are twelve towns in the game but as always there are only seven different badges that you need to reach the pokemon championship.

However things are not as easy as they seem as you are stopped by Team DeForster (Day - Fore - Stir) lead by a man known only as wood. They use mainly Fire pokemon as well as all of the other generic pokemon that appear around. They are found trying to destroy forests to make way for urbanisation.

The game had considerably less New Pokemon than previous titles, all of which were additions to old pokemon (preevolutions and evolutions). There were a total of 15.

The game takes place in the region of Mulwaree which has mainly forests and farming lands, it is a relativly flat region. It has twelve different towns with seven different gyms. It has very little ocean compared to previous games however there is a large river in the centre of the area which runs through most places.

  • Yarrh - The first gym's leader is Sampson a dark type trainer.
  • Bula - The second gym's leader is Delilah who uses Bug pokemon
  • Gundungurra - The third gym's leader is Renee who uses Rock pokemon.
  • Bigga - The fourth gym's leader is Danny who uses steel pokemon.
  • Binda - The fifth gym's leader is Liana who uses psychic Pokemon.
  • Gadi - The sixth gym's leader is Rhys who uses poison Pokemon.
  • Mura - The seventh gym's leader is Alana who uses fighting Pokemon.

  • Nigel - The first member uses Fire Pokemon
  • Nadia - The second member uses Water Pokemon
  • Ned - The third member uses Grass Pokmeon
  • Nadine - The fourth member uses Electric Pokemon
  • Oliver - The leader uses Dragon Pokemon

  • The region name and all of the town names are aboriginal-australian names, mainly Ngunnawal and Wiradjuri.
  • The region is not based off an area in Japan, but rather one in Australia.
