Kumatora (あなたもねトラ, Kumatora) appears as a newcomer in Super Smash Bros. V as a paid DLC Character. She is part of the Mother Pack, which was announced on July 8, 2020 and released on August 7, 2020, which features the new stage Osohe Castle, and various Mother/Earthbound trophies and sounds.

"Kumatora is one of the main characters in Mother 3. She is a young woman residing on the Nowhere Islands. Kumatora was orphaned at a very young age and was raised by Magypsies, who have also assisted in her learning PSI. Kumatora's personality is very tomboyish and reckless, but is willing to do things she dislikes to help out others. Kumatora first arrived on the Nowhere Islands via the White Ship when she was an infant, and had no parents to take care of her. The Magypsies, primarily Ionia, decided to raise her and teach her various skills, including PSI. Her role in Tazmily Village's "story" was to be the princess of Osohe Castle, with Duster and Wess being her retainers."

She is confirmed to have no alternate costume.

Kumatora shares voice actor with Ness and Lucas being Makiko Ohmoto. Of course for Kumatora, Makiko went for a much more feminine voice.

Summary

Kumatora is what you’d call the brawler variant of Ness and Lucas. Most of her moves involve punching, slamming, …and punching. She’s strong. She has good KO power and she has a very good mix of close and long range options. Most of her specials are quite reliable as most are almost lagless. She has a very interesting feat involving her fall speed. She’s a fast faller after one jump but floaty after her second jump, which has a similar animation to both Ness and Lucas’s second jump. Kumatora is to be played more up close and personal than Ness or Lucas but she can fit into both play styles.

Moveset

Ground Attacks

Neutral Attack 2%, 2%, 5% Kumatora throws 2 punches with her right hand then finishes with a flame-powered left hook sending opponents back.
Neutral Combo
Dash Attack 11% Jumps forward putting hands together and slamming them forward. Very strong and good KO power.
Forward Tilt 6% (tapped), 8% (held) Kumatora slams both fists forward as they’re covered in ice as the ice breaks at the end of the animation. Executed a bit slowly and has noticable end lag - even more sore if held but can break shields then.
Up Tilt 7% Kumatora knees upwards while tightening fists showing off her flexibility.
Down Tilt 3% Kumatora kicks her foot down in a similar fashion to Ness but the kick is a bit more heavy. Can trip.
Forward Smash 14% Kumatora slams her Fake Frying Pan forward in a similar manner to Ness’s baseball bat and Lucas’s stick. Hers does not have a sweetspot.
Up Smash 15% (sweetspot), 13% Kumatora punches the ground resulting in a sharp pointed icicle shooting out the ground.
Down Smash 14% Kumatora puts both hands together as they become engulfed in a flame aura and slams them down. Only hits in front of Kumatora.

Aerial Attacks

Neutral Aerial 2% (hits 1-4 back), 1% (hits 1-4 front), 3% (hit 5) Kumatora waves her arms around her, hitting opponents multiple times around her before knocking them away. Useful for catching opponents off guard or in combo's. Similar to Zelda’s neutral aerial
Forward Aerial 14% (foot), 12% (leg) Kumatora lifts a leg to head height and axe-drops it down as it’s covered in an aura of fire while exclaiming “Hah!”. Has slow start-up but it is a good meteor smash with great vertical and horizontal reach. Connection with the foot results in a very powerful meteor smash while connection with the leg results in some vertical knockback that can star KO opponents over 100%. When the spacing for meteor smashing with the forward aerial is mastered, this is a surprisingly easy meteor smash to land.
Back Aerial 13% Kumatora slams her Fake Frying Pan behind her. Good KO move.
Up Aerial 13% Kumatora headbutts up into the air.
Down Aerial 15% (fist), 13% (rest of arm) Kumatora punches one magic enhanced fist downwards initiating a meteor smash on contact.

Grabs and Throws

Forward Throw 11% Grabs opponent with both hands and powers up hands with lightning before throwing them forward while jumping and exclaiming “Hiyah!”. Kill throw.

Up Throw Offense Down 8% Holds opponent up and produces and orange arrow-like streak of energy with her pointing finger on them in an upwards direction sending them upwards.
Down Throw 7% Slams opponent down as they bounce off leading to possible follow ups.

Special Attacks

Neutral Special PK Freeze 2%-8%, 8%-14% (punch) Chargeable. Kumatora holds her fist back as she’s charging an frosty aura. When the special button is let go off she punches forward saying “PK Freeze!” releasing a slender blue-whitish aura of ice that damages opponents freezing easier if charged fully and longer at higher percentages. If fully charged, it releases itself automatically. If used at point black, Kumatora’s fist also hits the opponent doing massive damage and knockback but opponents would not be frozen in place as they’d be sent back after the PK Freeze hits them.
Alternate 1 PK Thunder 2%-8%, 8%-14% (punch) Chargeable. Kumatora holds her fist back as she’s charging an aura of electricity. When the special button is let go off she punches forward saying “PK Thunder!” releasing a slender yellowish charge of electricity that paralyzes opponents. If fully charged, it releases itself automatically. If used at point black, Kumatora’s fist also hits the opponent doing massive damage and knockback but opponents would not be paralyzed in place as they’d be sent back after the PK Thunder hits them. No other difference function-wise from PK Freeze.

Side Special Defense Down Ω 12% Kumatora boosts forward with her hand out in a “grabby” position. Her hand is covered cyan streaks of magical energy. If she makes with an opponent she heavily pushes them back dealing good damage and knockback. The move does MAKES COMPLETE WORK of shields. Despite all this, it can be punished quite easily if dodged.
Alternate 1 Defense Down α 2% (loop), 5% (hit 6) Kumatora doesn’t simply push opponents back with one touch but instead continues boosting forward as she’s pushing them. It does not do as much knockback, meaning it can KO as well, but it does more damage (with all hits connecting) and it can be canceled anytime before the 5th hit. Knockback for damage.

Up Special PK Fire 6% (PK Fire), 1% (Fire's tail), 17% (PK Fire 2 initial hitbox), 15% (PK Fire 2 late hitbox) Works similarly to Ness’s and Lucas’s PK Thunder but of course the property of the magic is fire. The controlling is very loose and when the fire hits Kumatora she’s boosted upwards with a fist out as she's covered in the fire. It doesn’t do as much contact damage and knockback as Ness’s and Lucas’s PK thunder but there’s almost no ending lag when she lands. The flame can also be used to edgeguard.
Alternate 1 Blazing PK Fire 10% (PK Fire), 1% (Fire's tail), 23% (PK Fire 2) Slower yet larger PK Fire. Both the projectile and Kumatora do more damage and knockback. However, the distance Kumatora moves with PK Fire 2 is much shorter.

Down Special PK Ground 11%-15% Chargeable. Kumatora lifts her leg and begins to twist it as she gains power in her foot. When released, she stomps on the ground while saying “PK Ground!” causing the ground and rocks to slide on both directions. The range increasing (and damage slightly) the longer its charged.
Alternate 1 PK Ground α 5% Not chargeable like PK Ground as Kumatora stomps the ground immediately. It doesn’t cause rocks to fly out in each direction it instead grounds opponents for a considerable amount of time.

Final Smash Brainshock 30% (complete shock loop), 21% (finishing punch) Kumatora boosts forward grabbing an opponent by the head as an animation initiates which involves Kumatora holding the opponent's head with one head and delivering a very powerful jolt of electricity to them as she then finishes off by punching them away.

A bit taller than Ness and Lucas.

Taunts

SIDE - Kumatora leans forward and places both hands on each side of mouth while shouting out “Aaaaah!”

UP - Kumatora holds out her Fake Frying Pan as she makes a “hmmmm” sound as her eyes are lit up with fire.

DOWN - Kumatora punches her palm twice as she radiates a light bluish fiery aura while chuckling in a confident manner.

Character Selection Screen Animation

Kumatora puts her fist on her chest while going “Heh.”

On Screen Appearance

Kumatora drops down from above producing an ice frozen ground where she lands before posing confidently.

Victory Animations

Kumatora gives Salsa a vocal command as Salsa jumps on Kuma’s shoulder as Kumatora strikes a pose with Salsa on her shoulder.

Kumatora holds out the Awesome Crown with and intrigued expression then places it on her head with a smirk.

Kumatora punches a flurry of PK Thunder beams forward then dusts her hands off before folding her arms with a “Hm-hm”.

Losing Animation

Kumatora is seen clapping respectfully.

Victory Theme

This victory theme is a cover of the music that would play during the opening of the NES game, Mother, highly sped up. It is shared with Ness and Lucas.

Fighting Stance

Stands up straight with hands to her sides and fists slightly out to the side.

Kumatora puts a fist on her hip and taps her feet with impatience.

Kumatora holds out her hand and stretches her glove.

Walk

Simply walks forward in almost a similar fashion to Lucas but more free.

Simply dashes forward in almost a similar fashion to Lucas but a bit more loose
