Kirby makes his fifth return to the Super Smash Bros. franchise in Super 5mash Bros. 5. Kirby has been buffed up with even more reliable kill moves and damage increase in his attacks. His dashing speed has increased and transition into jumping has been improved. Kirby hasn't changed much astehtically, but appears more saturated with his pink body and red shoes. His size has increased just slightly, thus making him a larger target, and his weight has slightly increased.

Changes from Smash 4

Special Set A

Name Damage Description
Neutral Special Inhale 6% (spit), 10% (swallow) Kirby inhales the nearest opponent and can either swallow them to steal an ability or spit them out, dealing damage. Swallowing them copies their neutral special ability, except for some that don't work (i.e. Olimar's pluck attack.) Kirby will copy Custom Set B special neutrals in these cases.
Custom 1 Ice Breath 2.4% (nearest), 1.2% (near), 2.4% (far), 6% (farthest) Instead of swallowing an enemy, Kirby expels ice that can freeze opponents. This prevents him from doing the copy ability.
Custom 2 Jumping Inhale 5% (spit), 8% (swallow) Kirby jumps forward, inhaling as he goes. It does less damage than the default but gives Kirby distance and horizontal recovery.
Side Special Hammer Flip 19% (ground uncharged), 15% (air uncharged), 35% (ground fully charged), 27% (air fully charged) Kirby can charge his hammer and then swing it forward, bashing anyone close to Kirby. The longer he charges it, the more damage it does to Kirby.
Custom 1 Hammer Bash 21% (ground head), 18% (ground handle), 4% (air hit 1), 17% (air hit 2 head), 15% (air hit 2 handle) It does more damage than the default and it sends opponents skyward upon contact. It cannot be charged.
Custom 2 Giant Hammer 22% (ground uncharged), 20% (air uncharged), 40% (ground fully charged), 32% (air fully charged) Kirby swings a massive hammer which has much wider hitboxes, but much slower swinging speed. Kirby is given super armor while charging the hammer.
Up Special Final Cutter 5% (rise), 2% (drop), 5% (landing), 6% (wave) Kirby jumps up, flips in the air, then comes down with his sword and sends a projectile forward.
Custom 1 Wave Cutter 15% (blade), 10% (projectile), 5% (Kirby) Kirby jumps straight up and then comes straight down, which causes a shockwave and rocks to be sent out from Kirby.
Custom 2 Upper Cutter 10% The rising slash is stronger and it grants Kirby greater vertical recovery. However, it cannot hit anything on the way down.
Down Special Stone 14% (shockwave), 18% (impact) Kirby transforms into a heavy object and is protected from damage while in this form. When performed in the air, he crashes down and deals damage to a wide area.
Custom 2 Grounding Stone 6% (shockwave), 10% (impact on grounded opponents), 12% (impact on airborne opponents) Kirby turns into a heavy object and falls down. Anyone directly underneath him are buried. He takes longer to transform, but less time to transform back.
Custom 2 Meteor Stone 12% (clean), 10% (mid), 8% (late) Anyone airborne while Kirby turns into the stone is spiked down as a meteor. It takes Kirby longer to transform back.

Special Custom Set B

Name Damage Description
Neutral Special Archer 2-8% (grab), 3% (spinning), 15% (impact), 5% (area impact) Kirby pulls out a bow and arrow and fires an arrow forward. Instead of charging it like Link's arrows, smashing the stick forward causes it to be fired faster with more damage.
Custom 1 Spiraling Archer 1-6% Much like the default, but instead, the arrow spins in the air cause a drilling effect that can pierce through objects and opponents.
Custom 2 Tether Archer 3-10% Stronger than the default, but takes much more time to execute. Adds a tether mechanic that allows Kirby to bring the opponent closer to him or to grab hold of a ledge.
Side Special Stealth Strike 8% (close), 5% (far) Kirby rushes forward at high speeds and slashes forward with his kunai. A clean hit deals more damage but can whiff opponents if its too far off.
Custom 1 Spark Strike 12% (sweetspot), 3% (whiff) Much like the default, but Kirby produces a spark effect at the end of the attack. It launches players further away and deals more damage on the spark sweetspot.
Custom 2 Reverse Strike 4% (close), 7% (far) Kirby vanishes and dashes backwards, slashing his kunai behind him. It does more damage the further the opponent is from the kunai.
Up Special Ultra Jet Jump 0% Kirby dons on a rocket pack and bursts upwards in a vertical trajectory. He can slightly influence the angle he travels. It doesn't do any damage.
Custom 1 Slamming Jet Jump 14% (start up), 8% (ending) Less recovery and slower than the default but deals damage if Kirby collides with other players. It does more damage in the earlier animations. If Kirby collides with someone, he will enter into a helpless state.
Custom 2 Twin Jet Jump 12% (fire burst) Kirby will fly straight up vertically without any influence from the player. If the player presses to the right or left during his ascent or at the end portion, the jet pack will send our a fire burst that does damage and propels Kirby on a horizontal trajectory to where the player pushed the control stick.
Down Special Crash Fireball 20-25% (first) Kirby stores energy by charging the special button. Upon letting go, Kirby releases the stored energy that adds 10% to Kirby's damage. It is highly damaging and knocks opponents upwards. If used again, it has significantly less power and knock back ability, but still damages Kirby at 10%. It has a long cooldown time.
Custom 1 Crash Firework 5% (first hit), 8% (second hit), 4% (last hit) Instead of charging the attack, Kirby gathers the energy and then releases it in three distinct fireball bursts centered on Kirby. He doesn't take damage from the attack, but it lessens in speed and damage when used repeatedly.
Custom 2 Crash Vacuum 15-18% Kirby inhales causing everyone nearby to be sucked in. He then explodes dealing damage. The longer he charges the attack and inhale duration, the stronger it will be. It damages Kirby for 12% and has a long cooldown period.

Final Smash

Name Damage Description
Final Smash 1 Cook Kirby Varies Kirby pulls out a big pot and sucks in anyone nearby. Kirby stews the pot, increases the flame, and causes it to explode, thus ejecting anyone into the air.
Final Smash 2 Ultra Sword 3% (stun), 5% (hit 1), 2% (hits 2-9), 16% (hit 10) Kirby pulls out his sword and begins to slam it into opponent, dealing multiple hits followed by one large hit that launches opponents away.
