Kirby returns yet again to the Super Smash Bros. franchise in Super Smash Bros 5. He remains mostly the same from the last game with a few slight changes and more copy abilities due to their being more characters. Aesthetically he looks like he does in the Return to Dreamland Series.

Changes from SSB4

  • Kirby’s smash attacks do slightly more damage
  • His dash attack has more knockback
  • He has new copy abilities
  • His side tilt does more damage


Specials and Final Smash

Move Name Description Custom Move
Neutral Special Inhale Kirby inhales opponents and items. If he inhales an opponent and presses down he gets the ability to use their neutral special in place of this move. Fire Breath – Kirby, instead of sucking up opponents breaths out fire which damages the opponent.
Side Special Hammer Flip Kirby swings his powerful hammer. The longer the move is charged the stronger it is. Hammer Bash – Kirby swings his hammer which makes opponents fly upward. However this move cannot be charged.
Up Special Final Cutter Kirby jumps straight up and falls straight down with a curved blade, cutting anyone he comes in contact with on the way. When landing, Kirby creates a shockwave that moves forwards quickly. Wave Cutter- Kirby jumps straight up and falls straight down, creating a shockwave that sends rocks flying outwards. The move only deals damage when Kirby lands on the ground.
Down Special Stone Kirby turns into a heavy object and plummets straight down. Enemies are sent flying on contact. Kirby cannot be damaged in this form, but can be grabbed. Boulder – Kirby turns into a huge stone which does more damage but takes longer to startup.
Final Smash Ultra Sword Kirby takes out his Ultra Sword and slashes at the opponent. If the move connects, he will teleport around them while slashing at them multiple times. He finishes the move with a powerful slash.
