Kirby: Polygon Panic is a Kirby platformer developed by Pyro Enterprises. It is heavily based off of the sub-game Kirby 3D Rumble from the 3DS release Kirby: Planet Robobot, and is designed to expand upon the concepts therein.

Story[]

Main Story[]

The game's opening cutscene begins with an overhead view of Pop Star, much like the beginning of Kirby's Return to Dream Land. Kirby is seen having a wonderful day as usual- eating, flying, and sleeping the day away. On a trip to the pond, however, he notices a strange pink crystal growing on the water's surface.

Kirby notices the crystal is spreading, and that the air above it seems to be distorting slightly, and nervously back away and heads home. Overnight, the crystals grow and absorb energy until they burst, scattering all over Pop Star. Colors flash and the landscape changes, as the crystals alter the very fabric of Dream Land's physics.

Kirby wakes up and realizes that his little house is now floating in midair. Plummeting to the ground after walking out the door, he sees that multicolored crystals have grown everywhere, and that the laws of reality seem to have changed. He runs off to see why as a girl in green watches him from atop a hill, running after him after a short delay.

After Kirby defeats Whirly Woods in Fractal Forest and Neon Titan in Radial Road, he comes across a young girl in black robes singing to herself, planting something in the ground. When the girl finishes her short song, she turns to Kirby with a sinister smile on her face. Kirby then notices that the staff in her hand is topped with a Polygon Crystal, and that more of the substance is spreading from the hole in the ground. Kirby glares at the girl, and she simply snickers as she flies away, Kirby in hot pursuit.

Once Kirby has defeated the bosses in Abstract Aquarium, Chaos Canyon, and Translucent Temple, he encounters the cloaked girl once again, this time having formed a small and beautiful garden out of the Polygon Crystals. Once again, she is wrapped up in singing some strange melody before she notices Kirby, and instead of simply fleeing, attacks Kirby with more of the crystals. She begins softly sobbing as she flies off, prompting a confused Kirby to follow after her again.

Kirby continues travelling until he clears both Undulating Universe and most of Rift Rupture, encountering the cloaked girl once again at the end of the latter area. This time, she seems intent on defeating Kirby, crying again for some inexplicable reason. She raises her staff and Kirby prepares to battle; before the witch can strike Kirby down, a blast of paint knocks the staff out of her hands. Kirby looks over to see Adeleine, who has been following Kirby around since the beginning in an attempt to help him. The Crystal Witch summons the powerful monsters known as the Polygonal Dreams to attack Kirby as she flees, and Adeleine pursues her.

Kirby eventually makes his way to the end of Evil Eden, what is seemingly the headquarters of the Crystal Witch, and finds Adeleine along the way, who tells Kirby that she tried beating the witch but failed and ran. Kirby eventually makes his way through the crystal-corrupted castle to find the witch again, still crying and singing the strange song. She notices Kirby, and raises her staff to fight; the two duel. However, once the Crystal Witch is defeated, the crystal on the tip of her staff shatters, and she writhes in pain as the cloak she wears evaporates... revealing her true identity as Ribbon, Kirby's long-lost friend.

The exhausted fairy weakly said hello to her pink friend, and tried to say something else before passing out. Suddenly, the remains of the scepter and cloak begin smoking and moving on their own, devolving into a black gelatinous mass from which emerges a Dark Matter swordsman. Kirby battles the fiend until it shows its true guise, absorbing all the Polygon Crystals in the area and forming a collapse on reality so massive that it creates a black hole: the DARK ZONE. Kirby jumps in, challenging the Dark Crystal Heart to one final duel and ultimately destroying it entirely.

Kirby is forcefully thrown from the collapsing black hole as all the Polygon Crystals across Pop Star shatter, their effects dissipating and the land returning to its natural state. Kirby wakes up and begins smiling when he realizes that his world has been restored, but his attention is quickly drawn towards the still-unconscious Ribbon nearby. He picks her up and begins walking towards his home when he meets up with Adeleine again. They smile at each other and Adeleine joins with Kirby as he walks home, the camera panning towards the sky as the credits roll... with a red heart-shaped planet appearing at the end, along with the words "The End?"

Gameplay[]

Polygon Panic expands on the ideas introduced in Kirby 3D Rumble, becoming a full 3D Kirby platformer. Kirby controls the same, but he can now utilize abilities and the stages are more linear than the arena-like areas in 3D Rumble. Unlike games like Robobot, abilities do not have intricate movesets; due to the nature of the game, each ability has only one or two moves.

Another major innovation is how the level clearing works; you aren't merely collecting Energy Spheres or Code Cubes this time around. Instead, Polygon Crystals are scattered throughout every level, growing in various ways and forms. Much like Shadow Goo in the original Drawn to Life, all the crystals in a level must be shattered in order to 100% it, and you have to get 20% to even open the exit door.

The treasure and Storage systems return from Squeak Squad, and enable Kirby to store six items within his stomach simultaneously, ranging from extra Copy Abilities to spare healing items to treasure chests. If a treasure chest is brought to the end of a level, Kirby obtains the bonus inside, and the treasure chest is replaced with a Red Star on subsequent playthroughs.

Modes[]

Main Mode[]

The basic story mode. Play as Kirby through 8 worlds while trying to uncover the mystery of the Polygon Crystals growing over Dream Land. This is the basic mode, and the only one available at the beginning of the game.

Adeleine's Adventure[]

Play as Adeleine in her own adventure through a harder version of main mode. Adeleine cannot copy abilities from enemies, so she has to find Copy Essences Deluxes in order to swap between abilities at will. Aside from that, it's also a time trial mode that tracks how long it takes for Adeleine to complete each world, allowing friends to compete for the best high score.

In addition, Adeleine faces off against more powerful versions of minibosses and bosses on her journey, labelled with an "X" after their name.

Sub-Games[]

Sub-Games are minigames that have no bearing on the plot and are just for fun. They do not have any stake in 100% completion, but maybe be required for Achievements.

Kirby Clash Z[]

A 3D remake of Team Kirby Clash from Planet Robobot. This 4-player mode sets multiple players wielding RPG-inspired Copy Abilities against multiple boss battles, each of which does not appear in the main game.

There are six main abilities that are available, two of which are new to the Kirby Clash mode:

TBA

Dream Course Deluxe[]

A 3D remake of the classic Kirby spinoff Kirby's Dream Course. In Dream Course Deluxe, your goal is to putt Kirby in ball form across a small stage in order to defeat all enemies and then sink the ball into a hole. If Kirby contacts an enemy that grants him a Copy Ability, then he obtains that ability and can use it to navigate the course.

When putting Kirby, players can manipulate his trajectory by changing the point of impact (what angle the "club" hits Kirby from, the power, and the type of shot:

  • Bounce shots send Kirby flying straight and let him bounce off of obstacles, letting him chain multiple targets together.
  • Arc shots send Kirby in a parabolic arc in the air, good for gaining height or landing on specific points.

Dream Course Deluxe also contains a VS. mode where two players can battle each other locally or online. In VS. mode, enemies drop stars when defeated, each of which is worth a point, and the goal hole now has two stars floating above it. If a player rolls over the star from an enemy that another player defeated, they steal that star, and when one player enters the hole, all stars are converted into points. Th player with the most points at the game's end wins.

The Arena[]

A boss rush mode where Kirby picks an ability and battles through every boss and mini-boss within the game in one run, ending off with the Dark Crystal Heart battle. More information can be found in the Arenas section.

The True Arena[]

Like the Arena, the True Arena is a boss rush mode; however, it pits Kirby against the stronger foes found in Adeleine's Adventure, with the exception of having normal boss fights against Dark Matter and Dark Crystal Heart, which Adeleine does not fight. It also adds two battles that do not occur at all within the main game. More information can be found in the Arenas section

Characters[]

Playable[]

Name Description Abilities
KirbyPP
Kirby
The adorable little super tuff pink puff. He may seem like just a simply jolly fellow, but he's actually saves his home of Dream Land who knows how many times over. This time, he's on a mission to find out what's causing the strange crystal growths across Dream Land as well as the changes in reality; hopefully, he will be able to stop them. Kirby can Inhale enemies with his black hole-like mouth. Once inhaled, they can be spit out for a Star Shot attack, which charges depending on how much Kirby has stored, or swallowed to gain a Copy Ability, a power that replaces the Inhale while active.
AdeleinePP
Adeleine
A young human girl who's looked up to Kirby ever since they went on an adventure years ago. When Kirby goes of to save Dream Land once again, his usual friends are nowhere to be seen, and the puffball's out of allies. Adeleine takes it upon herself to follow Kirby across the land and protect him; maybe he'll finally remember her after all these years. Adeleine cannot inhale enemies to gain Copy Abilities; instead, she has Palette Abilities. These tend to have far more advanced movesets than Kirby's Copy Abilities, she cannot lose them, and she can swap between them at any time via the Super Palette on the touch screen. However, Adeleine only starts with the unique Artist Palette Ability, and must unlock the others by finding scattered Delxue Copy Essences.

NPCs[]

Name Description
CrystalWitch
The Crystal Witch
A mysterious young witch wielding a crystal-topped staff. She is emotionless and responds to nothing, and has the ability to summon and command the Polygon Crystals. Nothing about her appearance can be determined aside from her small stature and gender; everything else is covered in a pitch-black ethereal cloak.

Copy Abilities[]

Ability Description Icon
Archer "Pew pew! With this ability, I can hit something from nearly any distance! Just line up a shot and POW! A Piercing Shot!"
Archer is one of the game's greatest ranged abilities. When used, Kirby fires an arrow that has little power, but travels in a straight line until hitting something and can be charged for more power. Kirby has to stand still to charge, but while charging he can aim it any which way, even up or down!
Ability Star Archer
Beam "Whoosh! Zap! This' beam's like a whip and just as useful as ever! Guess I'll have to swing it differently, though..."
Beam is one of Kirby's most classic Copy Abilities, having him don a jester hat and wand and fire whip-like beams of energy. This time, however, he swings the beam horizontally instead of vertically, making it hit anything in an arc in front of Kirby. It's not the flashiest ability, but is useful and one of the most common.
Ability Star Beam
Bomb "Oh dear... Things just got a little more explosive around here! I can either place time bombs down or just throw them; it's pretty to watch!"
A truly explosive ability, Bomb lets Kirby throw cartoonishly large bombs at his enemies. If he's standing still, he can place a timed explosive on the ground that detonates on contact. While moving, he instead hurls a bomb in the direction he's facing, travelling at an arc. Use this to hit behind cover!
Ability Star Bomb
Bubble "Bubbles are so much fun to mess around with! Not only that, but I can use them to store stuff even when my Storage is full! Neat!"
Bubble grants Kirby a bubbly hat and a wand that shoots bubbles in mass quantities. It's not the strongest ability in existence, but it attacks in a rapid stream and enemies that die to it are converted into bubbles to be put in your Storage. If that's full, the bubbles trail behind you, and go into your inventory when a space is available.
Bubble Icon KDL3D
Cannon "Kaboom! This cannon is really strong... and it can get even stronger by Priming it! Load it enough and nothing can withstand it!"
One of the many new abilities, Cannon gives Kirby a pirate hat and feather as well as a miniature cannon. This cannon fires cannonballs that are heavy enough to act as portable Stones, but they don't go far despite their damage- unless, of course, you attack while crouching, which Primes the cannon and makes the shot go farther... This also stacks, by the way.
CannonIcon
Cutter "This blade's like a boomerang; you can't get rid of it no matter what! If you charge it up, then maybe it can hit multiple baddies in one good toss!"
A classic Copy Ability, Cutter lets Kirby throw a boomerang-like blade in front of him. It goes forward and then loops back around, and Kirby is capable of manipulating the cutter's trajectory by moving to the sides. You can even charge it to give it enhanced range, damage, and piercing effects!
Ability Star Cutter
Cyber "It's impossible to go wrong when robots are involved! Kirby's cyber-enhanced now, so he can take powerful hits directly on top of energy blasts and slashes!"
Cyber Kirby is pure death metal of the adorable variety. His body is protected by cybernetic armor that protects against most kinds of weak damage (as well as all contact damage) and he attacks by swiping his arm, which shoots a beam as well as melee damage. Beware of his excessive slowness, however; Cyber Kirby has a harder time moving and flying than usual.
CyberIcon
Dragon "RAWRRR! That's dragon for bring it! Now that I'm a dragon, I can breathe fire and fly for a lot longer! Be careful with cold attacks, though..."
Dragon Kirby gains horns and a pair of dragon wings. His only attack is standing in place and breathing a powerful stream of fire, but this has long range and can be adjusted as long as Kirby is on the ground. Kirby's jump count also increases from 4 to 6 with this ability, but it also comes at the cost of reduced defense against ice; he even slips more.
DragonIcon
ESP "Brainpower at its best! With the ESP ability, I can lift things up with my mind and then toss them around; it's no use trying to stop this attack!"
Donning a cool hat, Kirby obtains psychic abilities and the ability to levitate enemies with his mind. Hold down the attack button to pick up blocks and small enemies, and tap it to throw them as projectiles! Your dodge has also turned into a sort of counter; press at the right time to retaliate with a laser blast!
Ability Star ESP
Fighter "There are plenty of moves that come with the Fighter ability! Chain together long strings of combos or charge up a powerful Energy Blast! Hi-yah!"
Fighter Kirby gains the ability to perform impressive combos; despite a short range, it can deal massive damage. It has a much larger moveset than most abilities, and many moves can be chained into each other, making it seem very much like a fighting game.
Ability Star Fighting
Fire "Hot! Hot! Fire! I'm so hot that I'm a living fireball! I can dash through anything and melt right through it! So hot!"
Fire Kirby has become the Burning ability from older Kirby games, and dashes forward in fireball form when used. In case you don't want to go very far forward, you can also summon a fiery explosion to cancel Kirby's forward momentum. Fire is very powerful in Polygon Panic, and should be used wisely!
Ability Star Fire
Gravity "I'm already kinda like a black hole, so why not make that a little more literal? With the Gravity ability's single use, I can vacuum up anything within the blast zone!"
Gravity Kirby is a single-use instant-kill ability, though more complex than the simple Crash or Cook abilities. When first activated, a circle extends from Kirby that slowly expands; this is the Blast Zone. Press the button again to inhale every object within the Blast Zone, but remember that the ability cancels if the Blast Zone expands too far.
GravityIcon
Hammer "This hammer's really heavy, which means that it's really powerful! It can even pound in stakes in a single mighty blow! Smashing!"
Hammer is a rare Copy Ability that can only be obtained from the miniboss Bonkers. It deals the most damage out of any ability, but has exceedingly short range and is a little slow. Kirby can repeatedly slam an enemy by mashing the attack button, charge a Fire Hammer by holding it, or dash to perform spin attacks on the air or the ground.
Ability Star Hammer
Ice "BRRRRRR... Not only am I freezing cold, my breath is too! I can freeze my foes solid... or skate on water to freeze that instead!"
A frosty cap tops off this frosty ability. When used, Kirby spins in place, spewing icy cold breath in a circle around him just like in Kirby 64. This freezes enemies into ice blocks, letting Kirby kick them as projectiles. His dash has also been replaced with ice skating, which automatically freezes hot surfaces that he skates over.
Ability Star Ice
Leaf "Leaves can be very sharp if they hit just right, and in a tornado, they hit a lot! Crouch down and... where'd I go?"
The Leaf ability is not very string, but can do overwhelming damage all the same. Hold down the button to have Kirby spin around in a tornado of leaves that does rapid damage extremely quickly; it can even move about. Ducking with the Leaf ability also lets Kirby hide in a pile of leaves which guards him from all attacks.
Ability Star Leaf
Mirror "Who's that in the mirror? It's Mirror Kirby! I can wave my wand to use Reflect Force, which attacks foes and bounces their shots back at them!"
Gaining a sweet hat and a magic staff, Mirror Kirby gains the ability to fire mirror shards at various angles in front of him. These shards not only do damage on contact, but Kirby also generates a reflective barrier in front of him when he fires the shards. This barrier reflects any and all projectiles that hit it, turning them into homing shots.
Ability Star Mirror KPR
Needle "Shnnk! Beware of spikes! This pokey Copy Ability is sure to be a big thorn in somebody's side, and it's not going to be me!
Needle is a very simple ability; simply hold down the attack button to protrude long spines from Kirby's body. In 3D, however, this ability is much stronger, and the range of the spines is much longer. It makes him semi-invincible and makes him stick on walls! The one downside is that Kirby will have to consistently run back towards enemies to attack.
Ability Star Needle
Plasma "Bzzzzrt! This shocking Copy Ability generates a barrier as it moves. Its Plasma Shot fires off this barrier for varying degrees of damage!"
The shockingly powerful Plasma Kirby generates a shield of static electricity as Kirby moves about. This barrier is an indicator of the power of Kirby's Plasma Shot attack; the larger the shield, the bigger and more powerful the subsequent blast.
PlasmaIcon
Poison "Poison's stinky but surprisingly efficient. I can spit out a Poison Ball and leave a puddle of acid on the floor- or does high direct damage!"
Poison Kirby's sole attack is to spew out a glob of poisonous goop. This glob does heavy damage on contact, but it also leaves a puddle of poison on the ground that remains for a long time and continues to deal damage. Infinite puddles can be creates but they do eventually dry up, so stack as many puddles as you can.
Ability Star Poison KPR
Shield "With this mighty shield, I can block almost anything! It even has a shockwave attack when I pull it up or but it away!"
Shield Kirby gains- what else- a shield and armored helmet. Hold down the attack button to raise the shields, making Kirby immovable but able to turn in place. Kirby can aim the shield at any attack to block it, and the shield also creates a small shockwave when it is put away. Mash the button repeatedly for impressive damage per second!
ShieldIcon
Sonar "Ping ping! The Sonar ability lets me crouch to scan the area! Not only can it see through walls, but it makes my Pulse Blast home in on enemies!"
When the sailor hat-wearing Sonar Kirby crouches, he emits a Sonar Pulse that covers the entire screen. This reveals hidden enemies or items as well as objects that where invisible to begin with. In addition, enemies pinged with the Sonar Pulse attract the ability's explosive Pulse Blast, which normally only goes forward.
SonarIcon
Spider "Spiders aren't always scary- but they can be powerful! My webs can slow down enemies and stun them, and I can even climb up walls! Spooky!"
A spooky spider-headed Copy Ability that grants Kirby some spidery legs. These let Kirby climb up walls using the same controls as wire grating, letting him traverse the environment with ease. For offense, Spider Kirby can charge a spray of webbing that stuns enemies; the longer the charge, the larger the spray.
SpiderIcon
Spring "Boing! The Spring ability lets me bounce super high when I hit the ground, and fall back down with a powerful smash attack! Bounce again and again for springy chaos!"
Spring Kirby gains a puffy hat and his legs gain the power to become a spring. When the attack button is pressed, Kirby jumps high into the air; press the button when he hits the ground to leap up again and release a shockwave. Hold upon landing to jump higher!
SpringIcon
Steam "Puff puff... This steam cloud is scalding hot! If any enemy walks into it, they can get scaled or worse! Blow multiple steam clouds to cover more ground!"
Steam takes scalding hot clouds of water and weaponizes them. Attack to have Kirby blow out a steam cloud, which hovers in place in the air for a bit. The cloud burns and damages anything within rapidly, and Kirby can keep blowing as much as he wants.
SteamIcon
Sword "Ha-cha! This sword is the master of weaponry! Pull off plenty of flashy moves and attacks to show who's really the boss around here!"
It's the legendary Sword Copy Ability! Possessing the most moves of any ability in the entire game, Sword Kirby can perform a rapid combo of strikes, dash forward, charge up a spin attack, perform aerial slashes or even pull off an ascending and descending strike! Attack at full HP to fire sword beams!
Ability Star Sword
Tornado "Spinning round at the speed of sound! Nothing can stop the tornado!... Not even me!"
Spin into gear with the powerful Tornado ability! Become a tornado that bounces around willy-nilly and can even take flight, damaging everything it hits with high power! The only issue? The Tornado ability is near impossible to have complete control over, and can lead to death.
Ability Star Tornado
Wheel "Mach speed away! This ability is the fastest thing around, so fast that it travels on water! Master turning properly and become a speedrunning champ!"
Transform into a speeding wheel by attacking with the Wheel ability! This wheel is invincible and drives right through any target it encounters, though its handling is horrible and it can only drift, not turn on a dime. The initial boost can be charged for a fire effect and a temporary superboost to speed.
Ability Star Wheel
Whip "Press the attack button repeatedly for a massive 100-Whip Barrage! Even the normal attacks of this adventurous ability can snag items- especially through walls!"
The most adventurous Copy Ability of them all! Repeatedly mash the attack button to perform the 100-Whip Barrage, an endless string of rapid attacks that automatically turn Kirby towards the target. Charge an attack to grab an enemy instead, throwing them away as a projectile!
Ability Star Whip
Wing "The might of the condor lets me fly for a lot longer than usual! I can also fire razor-sharp feathers in a spread shot, or even charge forward at high speed!"
The Native American-stylized Wing Ability triples Kirby's jump count from 4 to 12! Isn't that wonderful! Not only is it a valuable platforming asset, but it also comes with two attacks; a spread shot of feathers if standing still, and a powerful Condor Dash if moving. Caw!
Ability Star Wing

Palette Abilities[]

Ability Description Icon
Artist Unlocked by default.
Artist is Adeleine's default Palette Ability, and a truly unique one. It attacks using art supplies; brushes, paint splotches, buckets, you name it. It's a well-rounded ability but not very specialized. It's typically better to go with one of the unlockable abilities most of the time.
Burning Unlocked by clearing World 1-2 in under 2 minutes.
A fire-based ability that's all about momentum. It grants Adeleine the dash from the Fire ability, but also gives her the ability to charge it for added speed and power. She gains the extra ability to drop firebombs mid-flight as well, making her more offensive.
Thunder Unlocked by clearing Whirly Woods Omega in under 5.5 minutes.
A fusion of the Tornado and Plasma abilities. Thunder generates a small tornado around Adeleine as she moves, similar to Spark, but when the Thunder ability is fired off, Adeleine spins forward in an electrified tornado that also launches projectiles at max charge.

Worlds[]

There are 8 normal worlds in Polygon Panic, as well as a 9th "world" that only consists of the game's final boss.

Level Description Stages Secret Rooms Boss
Level 1
Fractal Forest
This place used to be a sunny green grassland. Now gravity's all screwed up, and patches of land are hovering around and floating, not to mention the crystals growing everywhere. This is a somewhat typical grass-world at first, but later stages become themed around clouds and air instead. 4 + EX Extra Stage 1,
Copy Museum 1
Whirly Woods
Level 2
Radial Road
What was once a normal city is now twisted and warped beyond belief. The roads spiral into the sky, and the once-normal buildings now take on bizarre blocky formations. Radial Road features more hazards than Fractal Forest, including hostile mechanical constructs, but overall retains an easy difficulty. 5 + EX Extra Stage 2,
Battle Park 1
Neon Titan
Level 3
Abstract Aquarium
A tropical ocean that has been subjected to the reality-altering essence of the Polygon Crystals. Time flows strangely here; certain areas have reversed time flow, causing reverse waterfalls and whirlpools that spew out objects with great force. In addition, some areas have a stopped time flow, essentially freezing the region over. 5 + EX Extra Stage 3,
Item Challenge 1
Cubobos
Level 4
Chaos Canyon
This large canyon is dusty and dry, but the influence of the Polygon Crystals have created bizarre clouds of floating sand and flying bubble oases. There's also wreckage of one of Dedede's old castles down here, but it's been taken over by raiders of some kind... 5 + EX Extra Stage 4,
Copy Museum 2
Sandoola
Level 5
Translucent Temple
The Polygon Crystals themselves seem to have formed this area entirely; it's a castle-like structure made of color-changing transparent blocks, and the environment itself can shift and move as needed. Its very presence has also turned the nearby lake into a murky gooey swamp. 6 + EX Extra Stage 5,
Battle Park 2
Chandelana
Level 6
Undulating Universe
A tall, tall tower that extends deep into space; the Polygon Crystals have distorted the atmosphere in this region as well. Undulating Universe first takes place ascending the trap-filled tower, then involves platforming across an asteroid belt. There's even a UFO up there! 7 + EX Extra Stage 6,
Item Challenge 2
Space Kracko
Level 7
Rift Rupture
This place used to be a mechanical foundry set next to an active volcano. Thanks to the high concentration of Polygon Crystals here, reality has become all kinds of screwed up, and patches of technology and lava rock float freely in the air. Beware the factory core; it's a miniboss rush! 7 + EX Extra Stage 7 Polygonal Dreams
Level 8
Evil Eden
A floating amalgamation of Polygon Crystals; this is the place where they are created by the Crystal Witch and thrown down to the surface of Pop Star. There's no set level theme aside from "hard"; Evil Eden is the villain's den, and you'll need all your skills to survive in this eerie wasteland. 7 + 2EX Extra Stage 8 and 9 Crystal Witch

Bosses[]

Main Story[]

Name Description Abilities
WhirlyWoods
Whirly Woods
Fractal Forest
A strange altered version of Whispy Woods. It's not even really a tree anymore, as its leaves have been replaced with fluffy white clouds that grow pinwheel-like flowers. It's actively hostile towards Kirby, and his roots attack him throughout Stage 1-4.
Phase 1
The battle begins like any classic Whispy Woods battle, with Whirly Woods located on the right of the screen. However, the battlefield is in 3D now, giving Kirby more room to dodge and Whirly Woods more room to attack. The evil cloud-tree attacks by launching puffs of air from his mouth, piercing the ground with roots, and firing pinwheel flowers that boomerang back around to the canopy.
Phase 2
When Whirly Woods reaches half HP, he generates a small tornado beneath him and tears himself out of the ground, hovering into the air. Whirly Woods can now float from one side of the battlefield to the other at will by going off of the primary platform (and out of melee range), and can fly up to try to squash Kirby. He retains his first phase's attacks, but has additionally gained a melee spin attack that charges toward Kirby.
Ability Star Cutter
Ability Star Leaf
NeonTitan
Neon Titan
Radial Road
A large floating robot covered in neon lights and speakers. It resides in the central plaza of Radial Road, and has been reprogrammed by some outside force to attack Kirby.
Phase 1
At the beginning of the battle, Neon Titan resides on a large square battlefield. Neon Titan pursues Kirby as the latter runs, punching and firing off its arms as missiles; these rocket-powered fists can be inhaled for the Cyber ability. It also attacks by launching balls of electricity in bullet hell-like patterns as well as summoning bolts of lightning.
Phase 2
When Neon Titan reaches half HP, it destroys the square battlefield, causing Kirby to land on a road that the mecha promptly bends into a loop shape. Neon Titan floats in the center of this loop at all times, but fires off streams of electricity directly from its body as well as firing rocket punches that curve around the loop. It is still capable of firing bullet hell formations of plasma balls, but can also summon small Mini Titans as well as fire a single ricocheting large shot.
PlasmaIcon
CyberIcon
Cubobos
Cubobos
Abstract Aquarium
A giant version of the Cubos enemy, Cubobos is a six-eyed cube-shaped monster made of pure Polygon Crystals. It resides in a frozen-over whirlpool deep under the ocean of Abstract Aquarium. It has really high defense, but takes massive damage when struck in the eye.
Phase 1
Cubobos's arena begins as a large square-shaped stage with four raised blocks within. Its primary attack involves spinning around and then launching towards Kirby like a curling stone, bouncing off of the arena walls. It also attacks by spawning Cubos, summoning rings of mirror shards that spin around the boss before firing off and breaking on contact, and firing laser shots from an open eye on one side of the body.
Phase 2
When at half HP, Cubobos slams into the ground, and the raised platforms fall down and become bottomless pits. The boss becomes faster, and replaces the sliding attack with a slamming attack. If the boss falls into a pit when lured over one by Kirby, it becomes highly vulnerable. It also gains the ability to fire a massive laser from its open eye; this laser is so powerful that it actually pushes Cubobos back when launched.
Ability Star Ice
Ability Star Mirror KPR
Sandoola
Sandoola
Chaos Canyon
Sandoola is a ferocious, sand-dwelling worm that resides in the dunes of Chaos Canyon. It's implied that it was the one who destroyed the old Dedede Castle within the canyon, as it attacks Kirby while he visits.
Phase 1
The battle begins in a large circular arena, sand constantly draining towards the center where Sandoola sits and a few tile platforms here and there. Sandoola attacks primarily by lunging at Kirby, attempting to bite him or pick him up in his mouth and toss him around. It is also capable of spitting rocks or stabbing its spiked tail through one of the platforms, stabbing Kirby if he is on it.
Phase 2
At 1/2 HP, Sandoola takes to the air and begins hovering above the battlefield; the quicksand ceases to be so and can be walked on freely. Sandoola now hovers above the battlefield, and retains the bite and grab attacks along with new coiling attacks. The rocks are now spit in faster rates, and it can now secrete and fire globs of poison from its tail that leave puddles on the ground.
Ability Star Stone
Ability Star Poison KPR
Chandelana
Chandelana
Translucent Temple
A somewhat friendly ghost who happens to look like a chandelier. She doesn't seemingly want to kill Kirby, just prevent him from passing out of the Translucent Temple on his journey.
Phase 1
Chandelana starts off battling Kirby in a circular arena, hovering around the outside of the circle in a slow clockwise rotation. Her primary attack is launching spectral flames onto the battlefield, which linger on the ground and can be inhaled. Chandelana can also fire crescent-shaped waves of energy at Kirby, as well as spin attacking to travel across the arena and jumping up to try to slam Kirby.
Phase 2
Upon entering 1/2 HP, Chandelana flies up and crashes into the center of the arena, leaving a large hole in it. Battle continues with Chandelana floating above the hole in the middle of the arena, firing bombs in different formations and using spin attacks at different levels of height. She additionally gains the ability to phase into the floor and pop up underneath Kirby to damage him as well as firing homing rings of fire.

Space Kracko
Undulating Universe
A Kracko formed from nebulaic clouds as opposed to normal clouds. Doesn't make it any less hostile, and it seems to be under the direct control of the Crystal Witch.
Phase 1
The battlefield is a large square, with sloping ramps on each side that angle inward. Space Kracko's primary attacks involve classic Kracko abilities such as dual Beam attacks, ramming Kirby, raining down on an area directly underneath him, and firing lightning bolts in cardinal directions. However, Space Kracko also has the ability to fire orbs of plasma, which bounce off the sides of the arena if they hit the ramps, becoming far more erratic.
Phase 2
The arena does not change when Space Kracko reaches 1/2 HP, but it does become angered and more erratic. Its movement speed increases, and it gains more options in terms of how it uses the ramming attack. Its most devastating new ability is the power to fly into the center of the arena and transform into a tornado; this tries to drag Kirby in while the arena slowly rotates. If Kirby is caught in the tornado, he takes heavy damage and is spewed out. Other new abilities include new patterns for plasma shots and the ability to drop explosives, which cannot be inhaled.

Arenas[]

The Arena[]

Before entering the Arena, the game drops off Kirby into a room filled with all Copy Essences in the game, allowing Kirby to pick the one that he wants. Much like past versions of the Arena, the mode immediately follows up with a boss fight, with Kirby trying to defeat all the bosses and minibosses in the game on one life.

Between matches, Kirby is supplied with four small tomatoes (which restore half health) and one Maxim Tomato that restores all health. In addition, Kirby can switch his ability for one of two other randomly generated Copy Essences, as well as a one-use Roulette Copy Essence.

Every round that is not a Mini-Boss All-Stars round or a Nightmare Three round can be one of two random bosses. The Arena advances to the next round when all possible bosses are beaten.

The True Arena[]

The True Arena begins the same as the normal Arena in terms of ability selection, but things change once combat is entered. The bosses fought in the True Arena are all Omega variants, which appear in Adeleine's Adventure. In addition, there is only one normal tomato and one Maxim Tomato, and the only Copy Essences supplied within the True Arena are one-time use Roulette Essences.

In addition to all Omega bosses and mini-bosses, players must contend with the normal variants of Dark Matter and Dark Crystal Heart (which do not appear in Adeleine's Adventure and therefore do not have an Omega variant), as well as the unique bosses Galacta Knight and Dream Oracle's Trial.

Trivia[]

  • Polygon Panic is the first game in Pyro Enterprises's Kirby: Crystal Reformation Trilogy, inspired by similar trilogies made by Shadow Inferno (tbc) and TheFoxyRiolu (tbc).
    • Polygon Panic is followed by Kirby: Interstellar Icarus in terms of storyline, but followed by Kirby: Robobot Revenge in terms of release date and development cycle.
  • The first letters of world names spell out FRACTURE, with an added D from DARK ZONE making the final abbreviation FRACTURED. This follows the previous series abbreviations of CROWNED, FLOWERED, and PROGRAM.
    • Ingame, the name abbreviation is a reference to the fracturing and shattering of the Crystal Witch's staff, leading to the reveal of the true main villain and endgame content. In addition, the name of the song that plays during the Dark Crystal Heart battle is also named FRACTURED.
