Dark Matter

Dark Matter also makes his first appearance in the Kirby Air Ride series as a playable character. He is a dangerous character for both the player and other racers due to his Void Ability, introduced in this game, the Void Ability allows him to pull enemies near him as well as send out energy pulses, this however slows him down when drawing enemies near him and the energy pulses when they explode have a large splash damage which can hurt Dark Matter. His Stats are overall the best of all characters however.

Dark Matter is unlocked after completing Nebula Belt on Easy, Normal & Hard.

Gameplay

Unlike in the original Kirby Air Ride, Top Ride & City Trial no longer exist. In their place however is a greatly expanded Air Ride mode and a Battle Arena. Along the way the player will be able to unlock new characters as well as new Air Ride Machines.

Modes

Air Ride

Air Ride makes its return from the first game featuring many returning levels as well as many new levels. Enemy racers who can be sucked up for their ability has been expanded to almost all of Kirby's Copy Abilities. When the player races in Single-Player there will be 23 other racers some of which can be inhaled while others must be passed. The race tracks are much longer than before and older race tracks have more laps such as Beanstalk Park having 5 Laps now instead of 2.

Battle Arena

The Battle Arena takes concepts from both Mario Kart and Kirby's own Arena mode. The mode has the player/s and three opponnents compete to complete rounds, each round the enemy AI become more intelligent and difficult. The racers are transported to one of several large arenas which contain natural obstacles and the aim is to knock the opponent's health out, all players are Kirby as there can only be four racers on the screen at any time.
