Final Smash Judgement

Isaac (愛座久, Isaac) appears as a newcomer in Super Smash Bros. V, revealed after the new Golden Sun game announcement on June 12, 2019. He was the final newcomer to be revealed before the game’s release.

"He is the silent protagonist and party leader of the original Golden Sun, and gains a speaking role in his appearance late in Golden Sun: The Lost Age as a co-leader of the game's extended final party. For being the most effective "main representative" of the Golden Sun series, Isaac serves a cameo role in the 2008 Nintendo fighting game, Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

He eventually becomes the father of Matthew, the main playable character of Golden Sun: Dark Dawn and husband to Jenna. Isaac is considered to be the most powerful Earth Adept in the Golden Sun series, due to his age at the beginning of his psyenergy training and his adventures across Weyard. His powers are closely followed by fellow Venus Adept Felix and his son Matthew."

He is confirmed to have no alternate costume.

Both Isaac and Isaac have been given voice actors for the game and they actually speak. Isaac is voiced by Yuri Lowenthal and Takahiro Sakurai in japanese. Isaac is voiced by Johnny Yong Bosch and Daisuke Yamikawa in japanese.

Summary[]

Isaac is somewhat like Robin. He brings not only swordfighting but magic as well. His regular attacks involve quick attacks while his special moves are the flashy magic attacks called psynergy. He has some good aerial attacks, strong specials, fast regular attacks, and he can wall cling and jump. His dash speed is pretty average but more on the lines of the faster dash speeds. His jump height is also superb. He does have considerable lag on some of his specials and regular attacks. He also can have trouble doing damage at a range with his regular attacks. His special attacks are very strong as they can fulfill damaging and pressuring the opponents. All in all, Isaac is a solid choice for players that want a character with a mix of quick sword attacks with flashy magic attacks.

Special Attacks[]

Name Damage Description
Neutral Special Flint Isaac sends Flint forward at the opponent and Flint begins to function like Olimar's pikmin sticking to the opponent. However it doesnt do any damage to the opponent. During the period that, Flint is on the opponent, Isaac gets a 2% damage boost to all attacks and also increased knockback to all attacks. The effect goes when Flint is shut down by the opponent. Flint needs to take 20% to be shut down. All moves by used by opponents can take Flint out unlike Pikmin. Flint cannot be called back for another 10 seconds after being thrown whether it sticks to the opponent or not.
Alternate 1 Quake 12% Isaac casts Quake while saying “Quake!”. It works similarly to Donkey Kong’s Hand Slap but (of course) Isaac doesn’t slap the ground. The effects of the ground shaking up are more detailed and defined as opposed to the effects of Donkey Kong’s Hand Slap. When used in mid air nothing happens but Isaac still says “Quake!” while executing it.
Alternate 2 Quake Sphere 16% Quake with more damage, knockback, and hitstun sacrificing a large amount range. The effects of the ground shaking up are much more intense. While executing Isaac says “Quake Sphere!”
Side Special Move 10% (slam) Isaac uses the utility synergy move which is a hovering hand that has a few interesting properties. It can push opponents back, even with their shield up. Isaac can also use it to push himself. If used in midair, when it comes in contact with an opponent it grabs them then slams them down. Opponents can airdodge at that moment and it has to go past them of course. Another counter to it is to reflect it. Another use of it is if, Isaac is offstage facing away from the stage and he uses it on himself, it’ll carry him safely onto the stage. With all these properties, it has no effect on projectiles as projectiles pass right through. It’s range is also limited.
Alternate 1 Ragnarok 13% (direct contact), 8% (explosion) Isaac casts Ragnarok while saying “Ragnarok!”, which is a sword of flames that moves downwards in angle exploding on contact with the ground or opponent. Good knockback and cannot be reflected.
Alternate 2 Catch 1.5x damage (thrown back projectiles) Isaac uses the utility synergy Catch as a hovering hand pops out in front of him that catches projectiles and throws them back immediately.
Up Special Gale Isaac casts Gale while saying “Gale!” and raising his hands as he surrounds himself in a tornado that moves in any direction the main stick is titled. Tapping B makes it go up. He can be attacked out of it while the tornado does have a wind box.
Alternate 1 Retreat A warp. Isaac says “Retreat!” as he puts his finger on his forehead. During this animation the main stick can be titled in the direction that is wanted to go. He then warps to the area as orb like aura appear following him. He can attack and move freely right out of it and there’s no attack if you warp by an opponent.
Alternate 2 Wild Growth 13% Isaac casts Wild Growth while saying “Wild Growth!” as he summons various Plant like objects that he uses to grab the ledge. It has long range and the direction the plants go can be determined by tilting the Main Stick. If used against opponents it does damage and mild knockback.
Down Special Punji 9% Isaac uses Punji as a more defensive maneuver. He lets out his hands casting it while saying “Punji!” as bamboo stalks raise up from the ground. They reflect projectiles and attacks. The bamboo damages those who come in immediate contact with it as it pops out of the ground. The bamboo disappear shortly after they appear.
Alternate 1 Punji Trap 3% Isaac says “Punji Trap!” while casting it and if the bamboo comes in contact with the opponent they are trapped as the bamboo wraps around them and they must break free, similar to Yoshi’s Egg.
Alternate 2 Punji Strike 5% (each) Isaac says “Punji Strike!” while casting it and the bamboo stalk shoot forward damaging opponents. They can’t be reflected.
Final Smash Judgement 48-54% Isaac raises his hands as a scene plays showing him floating into the sky shouting. The judgement knight then appears in his place and begins to charge a shoot before shooting it down at the stage destroying everything on it's path as it dissappears, followed by Isaac dropping down. The blast radius and knockback is tremendous.

Reveal Trailer[]

The Chosen One

The trailer is presented in an anime style as opposed to CGI.

The trailer starts of in an area that appears to be the Aqua Rock. Bowser and Ganondorf are seen staring each other down. After a bit of walking back and forth staring at each other, the 2 decide to charge at each other. Ganondorf is shown perform the Wizard's foot as Bowser blocks it, grabs Ganon by his leg and tosses him away. Bowser then charges at Ganondorf then leaps into the air as he crashes down on Ganon with the Bowser Bomb. A few moments later, Bowser is then hauled up slowly by Ganon then thrown up and caught by the throat. Ganondorf then executes the Flame Wave on Bowser as Bowser is launched into the air. Afterwards, the two continue to go at it. Later, a view of brown boots walking is seen. The brown booted individual is then shown to stop as the camera moves behind them as they watch Ganondorf and Bowser going at it. A close up of the individual's mouth turning into a smirk is then shown. The scene then shifts back to Bowser and Ganondorf completely going at each other as they then hear a voice shouting "HEY!". They stop and look forward towards the area where the voice came from. It is then revealed to be Isaac as he has his hand holding his sword as if he's about to unsheathe it. Then comes his introduction tagline -"Isaac makes his Arrival!". Bowser and Ganondorf then look at each other then each do an "agree-to-cooperate nod" as they then charge at Isaac who has his sword in one hand and the other hand controlling a "move hand". The camera hen closes up on Isaac who has quite a confident smirk on his face.

The gameplay portion consists of Isaac performing various attacks and specials. Karis who is an assist trophy is also featured in the gameplay portion assisting Isaac in a battle against Dedede, Ganondorf, and Bowser taking place on Aqua Rock. Some of Isaacs palette swaps are also fetured. And his Final Smash is also shown towards the end.
