“A humanoid creature which can turn into a squid and spray ink everywhere. A game of smash will turn into a paintball match!”
The Inkling is a default character in Super Smash Bros. Zenith. It represents the player character from Splatoon, which can be either female or male.
The Inkling didn't make an appearance in Smash before. However, Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U featured downloadable Mii Fighter costumes based on the Inkling.

Move | Name | Description | |
---|---|---|---|
Neutral Special Move | Default | Splattershot | The Inkling uses their Splattershot to spray ink, not unlike its Neutral Attack. However, they can aim up and down by tilting the Control Stick, and the Special Button can be held down for rapid-fire. |
Custom 1 | .52 Gal | The Inkling uses the .52 Gal instead of the Splattershot. The fire rate is decreased, but the shots are more powerful. | |
Custom 2 | Blaster | The Inkling uses the Blaster. This weapon doesn't have rapid-fire, as its shots explode mid-air. | |
Custom 3 | Splat Charger | The Inkling uses the Charger. When the Special Button is held and released, the Inkling fires a line of ink, which range differs depending on how long the Special Button is held. | |
Side Special Move | Default | Splat Roller | The Inkling charges towards opponents with the Splat Roller, after swinging downwards with it. This move can be used in the air for horizontal recovery. |
Custom 1 | Dynamo Roller | A heavy version of the Splat Roller. Slower charge, but more damaging. It can't be used mid-air either. | |
Custom 2 | Inkbrush | A much faster, but less damaging version of the Splat Roller, which starts with a horizontal swing. Repeatedly tapping the Special Button instead of holding it causes the Inkling to swing with the Inkbrush repeatedly. | |
Custom 3 | Octobrush | An Inkbrush which quickness and power is just in-between that and the regular Splat Roller. | |
Up Special Move | Default | Super Jump | The Inkling turns into its Squid form and launches itself high in the air. The move is a bit slow and can be interrupted when it is attacked. |
Custom 1 | Quick Jump | A faster version of the Super Jump, but with a shorter range | |
Custom 2 | Stealth Jump | A higher Super Jump in which the Inkling cannot be attacked due to its invisibility. However, it has startup lag. | |
Custom 3 | Spinning Jump | A shorter-range version of the Super Jump in which the Inkling spins around as an attack. | |
Down Special Move | Default | Splat Bomb | The Inkling throws a triangular ink bomb which detonates in a small explosion after a few seconds. The Splat Bomb can be picked up by other fighters. |
Custom 1 | Burst Bomb | The Inkling throws a balloon-like bomb which explodes on direct contact. | |
Custom 2 | Suction Bomb | The Inkling throws a can-like bomb with a black suction cup. The Suction Bomb sticks onto any kind of surface, even on opponents. | |
Custom 3 | Ink Mine | The Inkling lays down a nigh-invisible mine that detonates after an opponent passes it. | |
Final Smash | Default | Kraken | The Inkling transforms into an enormous squid that can freely swim around and damage opponents by touching them or spinning into them. |
Custom | Inkstrike | The Inkling fires an Inkstrike, a torpedo-esque bomb, onto the battlefield. The Inkstrike will cause an enormously damaging tornado of ink. |
