The Hypnoshades are a pair of sunglasses made by Octarians which are made to brainwash people who wear them. DJ Octavio used these on Callie during the events of Splatoon 2.

The Hypnoshades resemble the sunglasses Octolings wear in Splatoon 2, but with an LCD screen in place of the lenses. The screen emanates various patterns, such as an electocardiagraphic line or diamond-shaped iris effects.

The Hypnoshades only appear in the final boss battle, which were worn by Callie to keep her under DJ Octavio's control. Later, Sheldon drives his truck (with Marie on it) in the scene, and then Marie shoots ink from her Hero Charger, which throws them off and releases Callie from the brainwashing. The Hypnoshades haven't made any further appearances in the game.
