Gyroids are a species in the Animal Crossing series. One special character, Lloid, is a gyroid. The rabbit villager Coco also resembles a gyroid.
Other gyroids are used as furniture items. They move and make unique noises rhythmically to music, or to a default rhythm if none is playing nearby. In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, a random gyroid forms after burying and watering a gyroid fragment.
Gyroids are based on Haniwa, terracotta clay figures that were historically buried with the dead in Japan.
