Goomy, known in Japan as ヌメラ (Numera), is a Dragon-type Pokémon, most notably said to be weakest. It evolves into Sliggoo when reaching level 40, which then is able to evolve into the powerful Goodra by reaching Level 50 in natural rain.

Biology

Goomy is a gooey, slime-like gastropod. The top part of Goomy is lilac-colored while the bottom part is more purple. Place inbetween these parts are four large, green-colored spots, two of which are Goomy's cheeks. Right between its cheeks is a large mouth. Goomy has also two small beady eyes above its mouth, as well as two sets of antennae: one set is short and another is long.

Goomy is widely considered to be the weakest Dragon-type Pokémon of all. Despite this, Goomy is covered in a slimy membrane that slides off kicks and punches against it harmlessly. Goomy commonly lives in marshes and other damp, shady places where a lot of water is found and a lot of sun is blocked off. If Goomy is placed in an environment that is hot and dry, its body would dry out and Goomy won't survive.

Trivia

  • Goomy is by far the lightest Dragon-type.

Origin

Goomy highly resembles the wiwaxia. Goomy seems to be based on soft-bodied gastropods like slugs and nudibranches. It's Dragon typing makes Goomy also reminiscent to the Blue Dragon sea slug. It may also be based on living slime.

Name Origin

Goomy may be based on goo and gummy or slimy

Numera is likely based on 滑る numeru (to be slippery) and ぬらぬら nuranura (onomatopoeia for "slimy")
