Golden Soul is a 2019 American live-action fantasy action-adventure film based off the video game series and novel and comic series of the same name. It is directed by Francis Lawrence, who also directed the Hunger Games film series. The film takes most elements from the first Golden Soul game and its novel counterpart as well as adding tweaks to the plot and characters, even introducing new characters entirely. It will star Rob Mayes and Seth Meyers and Peter Stormare and Joe Lo Truglio and Kristen Stewart and Melissa Leo and Oscar Isaac and Marlon Wayans and Clancy Brown.

The film was initially intended to be released on February 15, 2019, but was delayed to April 6, 2019 due to production issues.

Critical Response

Golden Soul received positive reviews from critics. It received critical acclaim for its action scenes, CGI effects, character development, and overall design but was criticized for its simple plot as well as some of the new characters. It holds a 81% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes based off of 302 and a rating average of 8.4 out of 10. On Metacritic, the film has a 76 out of 100 score, indicating "generally favorable reviews", based on reviews from 47 critics.

Box Office

Golden Soul earned $214.6 million in North America, plus an additional $186 million in Japan and $157.2 million in other countries, for a worldwide total of $557.8 million. It was a box office hit, earning a total of $97 million on its opening weekend.
