Godzilla: World War III is a multiplatform fighting game released on February 27, 2015; with a story tying the modern kaiju most know with the ancient creatures that were long forgotten.

When the ancient Orochi was killed in battle with an ancient Japanese warrior, his 8 heads spawned into the Benevolent Ancients of Japanese legend: Manda, Varan, Barugaron, Shiigan, Vagnosaurus, Jyarumu, Balkzardan and Baragon. These massive spawn have been slumbering for thousands of years, just waiting to awaken at just the right time...

Now it is 2015. Millenia have passed since that fateful day; more monsters have been born to take their place: King Caesar, twins Mothra and Battra, King Kong, Gamera—even the mighty Godzilla. These monsters have shown their colors as defenders of the earth, fighting off alien invasions, new (and more destructive) kaiju, and even a crystal plague. Humanity is now at ease once more under the protection of these as well as their own kaiju mechanoids—guardians like Kiryu, SuperMechaGodzilla, Mechani-Kong, MOGUERA, and humanoid mech Jet Jaguar; even a new mechanical version of King Ghidorah (unfortunately now smaller and with only one head instead of 3) are at the ready to defend Earth from any threats.

But the time of rest is over. The despicable alien race known as the Vortaak have returned for another season of conquest, armed with their recently updated arsenal of Alien Forces: Gigan, Megalon, a fully organic King Ghidorah, and the new creature Viscythor are just a few of this expanded army they have at the ready. They also plan to probe these Benevolent Ancients with special Mind Control crystals obtained from the plague to wreak even more havoc. With Earth's forces assembling to battle this clandestine incursion, they may just be totally defenseless against an old but none less dangerous threat to humanity's own freedom...
