Godzilla: Rulers of Earth is an upcoming action-sandbox fighting game by Clover Entertainment. It is the fourth entry in the Godzilla game series . It is an attempt to re-imagine the fighting style in the previous Godzilla games. The game is loosely based on the ongoing IDW comic book series of the same name. It will be released for Xbox One, Playstation 4 and Wii U on November 23, 2013.
The game is a persistent world multiplayer fighting game, but it's not an MMO like the last game. You can play on your own or online, but the gameplay is not seperated. You can still fight other players when not online. However, you have to be online to chat with other players through headphones and compete in multiplayer tournaments.
The gameplay is a mix between War of the Monsters , wrestling games, and Super Smash Bros. It is a 3D fighting game. Battle as giant monsters in fully destructible and interactive environments. The environments can be used to your advantage as well. You can topple buildings onto your opponents, throw cars and rubble at them, throw into buildings, and use them as cover from enemy fire. You can even get rewarded points for how much damage you cause to the city at the end of a fight. These points will allow you to buy bonus content, new monsters, new cities, and more.
The fighting system is more unique from other fighting games. It takes elements from War of the Monsters, where you fight monsters in fully-destructible 3D environments, and the pinning system from the WWE games, where you have to pin the other monster down to the ground after inflicting enough damage to it, and the damage system of Super Smash Bros, where percentage shows how much damage was taken and you get weaker as you take more damage. The fighting is as follows: You have to battle the other monster and inflict as much damage on him as possible, then once he's taken enough percentage in damage, pin him down for 3 seconds and you win the fight.
Classic modes like Versus mode, where it's just 2 players fighting, and Melee mode, where it's 4 players fighting, and Destruction Mode, where 1, 2, 3, or 4 players have to cause as much destruction to the city as possible within the time limit, but there are some new modes as well, including elimination, where the last monster standing wins.
|Godzilla||You can't have a Godzilla game without him. He's the king of all Monsters and is capable of stomping the s**t out of your city just because he's in a bad mood. However, he has protected the earth from extraterrestrial threats as well. He can shoot a blue energy beam out of his mouth and is incredibly strong. He ain't the King of the Monsters for nothing.|
|Anguirus||Anguirus is an ankylosaurus that happens to have spikes on his back. He is capable of rolling into a ball and ramming right into his opponents. He may not be the strongest of all Kaiju, but he certainly has a fighting spirit, and if he goes down, he will definitely go down fighting. He is one of the few Kaiju that doesn't have a breath weapon, but he does have a sonic roar.|
|Mothra||Mothra is a giant butterfly that is also one of the few female monsters in the entire roster of the game. She is a guardian of the planet and is even willing to protect humans from the likes of Godzilla's rampages to King Ghidorah, one of her main enemies.|
|Varan||Varan is an ancient being from millions of years ago. He has a build similar to that of a flying squirrel. He can glide short distances using the flaps attached to his arms and legs, much like a flying squirrel. He also has a sonic beam, similar to Anguirus, but a little different.|
|Baragon||Baragon is a creature that is capable of burrowing underground. He is also the smallest monster in the game, but don't let that fool you. His connection with the rocks and magma give him great power equal to that of Godzilla and others.|
|King Ghidorah||King Ghidorah is a 3-headed dragon from outer space that can shoot electricity from his mouths. He is one of the largest and most powerful monsters in the game. He is one of the few monsters that has actually been proven to be just as powerful, if not more powerful than Godzilla.|
|Zilla||Zilla is a mutated iguana that was mistaken for Godzilla in his New York City attack in 1998. He may not be the strongest or toughest Kaiju, but he is one of the fastest. He is capable of putting slow-moving monsters like Orga and Biollante at his mercy with his speed alone.|
|MechaGodzilla||What did you think he was? He is a robotic version of Godzilla. This is the first version of them. Unlike the next 2, this one is evil and created by an alien race to take over Earth, but was destroyed through the efforts of the Kaiju. But, now he's back.|
|Rodan||Rodan is a giant pterandon that shoots a uranium beam from its mouth. At first, there were actually two of them, one of them got destroyed in a volcano. He is one of the few monsters that can fly great distances.|
|Destoroyah||Destoroyah is a monstrous creature created from the same weapon that was used to kill the original Godzilla. He is not only physically powerful, but he can also shoot a breath weapon that inflicts heavy damage. However, this comes at the cost of being slow and having useless wings, as he can't fly.|
|Ebirah||For the first time ever, Ebirah is entering the fray. He is equipped with claws that can slice through even the most armored monsters. He is a giant crab-lobster that is not very armored, but can pack a punch.|
|MechaGodzilla 2||MechaGodzilla 2 is inspired by the alien's Godzilla. The difference is that this MechaGodzilla is used to protect the Earth rather than destroy it. It is equipped with a plasma cannon on it's belly. It lacks the absurd amount of missiles in its body of the first one, but it has serious physical power and heavy armor.|
Pacific Rim Pack
A downloadable set of characters from the Pacific Rim movie. Both Jaegers and Kaiju are presented here.
- This is the first time Zilla is called by his official name in a Godzilla game. The previous games referred to him as Godzilla USA or Godzilla 1998, even though he isn't really Godzilla.
- This is the first time a song with lyrics in it is the intro in a Godzilla game.
- It is the first time the Godzilla and Pacific Rim series crossed over (only if you get the DLC pack).
- This game is actually VERY loosely based off an ongoing Godzilla comic book by company IDW.
