The Game Boy is Nintendo's second handheld console. It was first released in Japan in April 21, 1989. It was followed by the Game Boy Color and the Game Boy Advance. It was one of the best-selling game systems of all time, selling around 64.4200.000 units worldwide.
It had five buttons: A, B, D-Pad, Start and Pause, the same configuration of the Nintendo Entertainment System. Its graphics had a limit of four green tones only. Its slogan was "Now you're playing with power, portable power!".
The Game Boy was created by Gunpei Yokoi, who also have created the Ultra Hand toy and the Game & Watches. Although monochrome, it beat it's coloured rival the later released SEGA Game Gear by selling 64.42 million units worldwide compared to the Game Gears measly 11 million.
