Fruity Speedway 64 is a Nintendo 64 game developed by Toucan and published by Nintendo in 2001. It's the third game in the Fruity Speedway series. This is Toucan's last game on the Nintendo 64. This game features 32 tracks and 8 battle arenas with a lot of voice acting for the characters as well as realistic lighting effects and dynamic shadowing, making Fruity Speedway 64 one of the most technically advanced games of its time.

Gameplay

Fruity Speedway 64 plays like most kart racers, you can race around the track and collect powerups to get an advantage. The game can be played with 1 to 4 players. Various gimmicks on the track can help or hinder the racers.

Modes

Grand Prix - The main mode of the game where most stuff is unlocked. Race through 4 tracks to earn points, the racer with the most points wins the gold trophy. Place 1st in all four races to win the platinum trophy. This mode can be played with 1 or 2 players.
- Ameture - Easy CPU racers
- Intermediate - Medium CPU racers
- Professional - Hard CPU racers
- Master - Locked - Very hard CPU racers, Tracks will be mirrored
VS. - In this mode you can race by yourself or with 4 people. There are many settings to choose from.
- Mode - In Laps, the players must go around the course a certain amount of times to win. In Time, the player who completed the most laps in the time limit wins.
- CPU difficulty - Can be set to ameture, intermediate, professional, or master.
- CPU racers - Toggle CPU racers on or off.
- Laps - Set the number of laps in Laps mode. By default, all the tracks will have 3 laps.
- Time - Set the time from 1 to 5 minutes in Time mode
- Powerups - Select which powerups will be used in the race.
- Teams - Choose whether you want teams or not.
Battle - Battle in an arena with up to four players. This mode can be played with 1 to 4 players.
- Banana Bonanza - Players will start with 3 bananas, if they fall of or get hit by an attack, they'll lose a banana. When the player has lost all their bananas, they'll turn into a mobile TNT crate which they can ram into the other players.
- Canary Coin Carnage - Players have to collect as many Canary Coins within the time limit. The player with the most wins. Time can be set from 1 to 5 minutes.
Time Trials - Race around the track for the best time. You'll have 3 nitro cans each race. This mode can only be played by one player. If the player is fast enough, they'll unlock the Toucan staff ghost, which is very fast.

Powerups

Powerups are obtained by driving into a ? crate.
Nitro Can - Gives you a boost of speed.
Triple Nitro can - Gives you 3 Nitro Cans.
Paint Splotcher - Drops paint behind you. If someone drives over it, they'll spin out.
Triple Paint Splotcher - Gives you 3 Paint Splotchers.
Ice Block - Fires an ice cube forward. If it hits someone, they'll be frozen and keep going straight. They'll unfreeze when they hit a wall or after a few seconds.
Shield Shell - You'll be in a bubble and have super speed and invincibility.
Steel Keg - You'll turn into a steel keg for a short time and go at high speeds and be able to smash anyone.
TNT Crate - It looks like a ? crate, but when someone drives into it, it'll explode.
Crazy Plane - An RC plane that heads for the 1st place racer.
Bowling Bomber - A bomb that rolls to the closest racer.
Triple Bowling Bomber - Gives you 3 Bowling Bombers.
Stormy Weather - Puts a rain cloud above everyone in front of you. They'll drive slower.
Bananas - These will slightly increase your speed with each one collected.
