Changes from Ultimate[]
- R.O.B now uses voice lines from Mario Kart DS
- A few returning characters now have a Special Display that they did not have in Ultimate, with each looking like the UI in their respective games.
- For example, R.O.B's Fuel Gauge is now visible next to his percentage and is styled after the stat meter in Mario Kart DS.
Story Mode[]
SSR also has an open-world Story Mode with fully voiced dialogue.
This Story Mode seems to be similar to The Subspace Emissary from Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
Badges + Badge Hunt[]
What are Badges?[]
Badges are similar to Spirits, in which you would be able to claim them by winning fights against Puppet Fighters.
What is Badge Hunt?[]
Badge Hunt is similar to the Spirit Board from Ultimate, however there are a few changes:
- Badges do not run out of time
- You can now fight an infinite amount of times, with the ability to give up, which gets rid of the Badge on the board and replacing it with a new one.
- Once all Badges on the board are claimed, all spaces are filled in with new stickers
- Badges are automatically claimed after winning a fight.
- There are 20 slots instead of 10
Announcers[]
A new addition to Super Smash Rumble is the ability to change the Announcer Voice, alongside the Announcers from previous games, Johnny Cage, and the Wii Sports Announcer, some characters in the game are also Announcers.
- Joker
- Snake
- Dante
- Lucina
- Sephiroth
Scrapped Characters[]
- Mortal Kombat Raiden: Scrapped because there already exists a fighter named Raiden
Trivia[]
- This is the first time that a character that does not appear in any games that are on a Nintendo Console is in Smash Bros, that being Heavy from Team Fortress 2.
- This is likely because of Super Smash Rumble not being exclusive to the Switch 2
- Scorpion and Kano share a trait with Bayonetta: they will emit rose petals when damaged
- Furthermore, if anyone in a match with Scorpion or Kano in it is damaged by an Up Smash, there is a chance that Dan Forden will show up in the bottom right corner and say "Toasty!", a reference to Mortal Kombat II.
- Dan Forden uses his appearance in MK3
- Furthermore, if anyone in a match with Scorpion or Kano in it is damaged by an Up Smash, there is a chance that Dan Forden will show up in the bottom right corner and say "Toasty!", a reference to Mortal Kombat II.
- Ice Climbers were originally going to have an Echo Fighter, consisting of just one Ice Climber
- Similar to MK11 and MK1, Johnny Cage will mock or make pop culture references if a character is chosen.
