Plot[]

A Day of Peril[]

The King of Hyrule watches out his window as a large cloud rolls in from far away in the distance. He sends his messenger to find Reubell the fairy, who quickly comes to the king's side. The king explains to Reubell that the land is in great danger, and the two legendary heroes must be found before everything is destroyed. He sends Reubell out to find these two heroes.

Reubell flies over several areas of the land, including Death Mountain, Lake Hylia, Kokiri Forest, the Gerudo Desert and finally the main city of Hyrule. While in this area, two Octorok twins knock her from the sky and send her plummeting into Kerria, a small village just outside of the Kokiri Forest, where two boys are playing with a small rock. One boy reaches out to catch the rock, but instead, Reubell lands in his palm. A second later, the rock hits him on the head. The two boys examine the fairy as she wakes up. She panics, knowing that she cannot rest on the job. The boys ask her what she needs to do, and she explains that she needs help. She refuses to explain anymore, so the boys decide to follow her back to Hyrule.

On their way to Hyrule, they travel through the Lost Woods where the Skull Kid stops them. He battles them and cannot be defeated, as they have no weapons. They travel to the nearby Kokiri Forest, where they meet Mido, Fado and Malon. Fado suggests they stay at the inn and they do. Once they awaken, Malon gives them a slingshot to defeat the Skull Kid with. They head back to the Lost Woods and defeat the Skull Kid before continuing.

Reubell takes them back to the King of Hyrule, who informs them of what has been happening.

Long ago, the Seven Spirits assisted in Hylia, Din, Nayru and Farore's creation of the world. They added the beauty to the world- the flowers which grew. The mountains which exploded in beautiful colors. The oceans which held the many fish. The gusts of wind that spread the beauty. The life which traveled the land. The light which showed the beauty. And finally, the darkness which allowed sleep. The Spirit of Darkness, however, was a very mischevious spirit, and started a war between the spirits. The flowers now wilted. The mountains destroyed the world. The oceans now held sharks. The gusts could now blow buildings far away, never to be seen again. The life now died. The light was lesser. Darkness took over. The three golden goddesses had no choice but to hide the spirits in normal beings. The Spirit of Darkness escaped from them and hid, knowing his time would come.

His time is coming now. The only way to stop the darkness created by the Spirit of Darkness is to find the other six spirits. He sends them to Hyrule Temple, where the princess is.

Once arriving at Hyrule Temple, they are stopped by Impa who tells them that the princess would never take audience with such lowly peasants. She does not believe them when they say the king sent them, so Reubell suggests them sneaking in. Impa overhears and scoffs at them, saying she will keep guard no matter what. They return to the Hyrule Town. They head to the store and find bombs for sale for 50 Rupees. They collect the Rupees, buy the bombs and use them to open up the hole where the water comes out for the moat. They sneak through this hole and avoid the guards through the courtyard, finally arriving in Zelda's throne room. However, Zelda is not here- only Sheik is. Sheik apoligizes to the children, telling them Zelda is out riding. He is quite impressed by their skills, however, and gives them the Harp, teaching them the Hero's Anthem, which will allow them to enter at any time. Impa then walks in and, after talking with Sheik for a few seconds, shoos the children away.

They head back to Hyrule Castle. The King of Hyrule is confused, but sends the children to Death Mountain, as that is probably where the Spirit of Fire is.

Link, Tinker and Reubell arrive at Death Mountain Trail, where they bribe the guard with 15 Rupees and head to Death Mountain, battling Octoroks and Baby Gohmas along the way. Once reaching Death Mountain, they find that Biggoron is guarding the path, and won't let any strangers in- he still isn't convinced when they play the Hero's Anthem for him, though after the Hero's Anthem is played, the mountain begins to erupt. Frightened, Biggoron flees and almost crushes Link, Tinker and Reubell, who start to flee but see that a young Deku Scrub was hit by a rock and can't move. They run in to help him, but realize that they can't lift the rock until they get the Goron Bracelet- an item that is kept in a chest at the top of the mountain. They have a time limit to get to the Goron Bracelet, pick up the rock, and carry the Deku Scrub out through the top- otherwise the Scrub will be killed by the lava. Once rescuing him, he asks them to get him a Red Potion from the Potion Shop in Hyrule Town. The children do so, and the Scrub is completely healed. He then reveals his name is Shub before digging a new hole for his home. The children begin to return to Hyrule Castle.

On their way, they discover that Hyrule Trail is closed for maintenence, so they head the long way around Lake Hylia. On their way across a bridge over the lake, a large fish jumps over their heads and eats Reubell before disappearing deeper into the lake. Shocked, Link and Tinker dive after it- however, they run out of air on their way and almost drown. Before they can, a girl their age is seen pulling them into her boat.

On the King of Red Lions, Link and Tinker wake up and see Tetra and Niko. Tetra is glad their awake and tells them she found them underwater. Link remembers that Reubell was eaten and attempts to chase after the large fish, but Tetra and Niko stop him, telling him he can't swim deep enough. Link and Tinker tell the two pirates what happened. Tetra guesses that Reubell was eaten by the mighty fish Jabun, who lives with the Zoras. She reveals that the only safe way for normal people to get to Zora's Domain is to lower the water level with a button. She then reveals the King of Red Lions being alive and tells Link and Tinker to try sailing the King to the button. Tetra and Niko jump off and swim to shore, allowing the King to help Link and Tinker get the button. They press it and the water empties enough for Link and Tinker to access a door into Zora's Domain.

Once in Zora's Domain, Link and Tinker are directed by the Zoras to the Zora King's home. Once there, they discover that the Princess Siezor is missing. The King tells Link and Tinker that, during a time of crisis, no one is allowed to see the mighty Jabun. Disappointed, Link and Tinker decide to talk to the other Zoras, which includes a kind shopkeeper Zora named Zola. Zola tells Link and Tinker that she suspects that Siezor was eaten by Jabun- therefore, the only way to find Siezor is to get to Jabun. However, when Link and Tinker tell the King this suspicion, he doesn't believe them. Zola tells them that she knows how to get in without permission from the King. She gives them each a Zora Tunic and teaches them a song for their Harp, the Zora's Minuet. They sneak past the King and play the Zora's Minuet, which unlocks the door into Jabun's quarters. Once in there, Zola is attacked by several Moblins and taken captive. The Moblins escape with Zola inside of Jabun, and the children can't damage them with their slingshot. They head back to talk to the King again. This time, when he hears that there are Moblins attacking Jabun, he teaches them the next Harp song, the Kokiri Song. However, he can't remember all of it, so he tells them to play that part and the Deku Tree will give them the Kokiri Sword.

They enter the Lost Woods and teleport back to the Kokiri Forest. However, when they play the Kokiri Song, the Deku Tree's guard, Aldo won't let them in because it isn't the right song. They talk to Fado, Mido and Malon, who are once again in the inn, and the children suggest they head back to Kerria.

Link and Tinker arrive in Kerria and discover Saria waiting on them. They tell her of their problem, and Saria realizes the full song- however, it can't be played on a regular harp. She tells them they must find Nayru's Harp, which is protected by the Gorons.

Once arriving at Death Mountain, the children discover that Biggoron is guarding the mountain again. He won't let them in, but when he sees their harp, he asks for them to play a song. He will complain if you play the Hero's Anthem or the Kokiri Song, but if you play Zora's Minuet, he will fall asleep and fall off the mountain, letting you in. You must then find Darun, who, if you play the Kokiri Song, will give you both the Hylian Shield and Nayru's Harp, as well as teaching you another song for the Harp: the Goron's Lullaby. If you play the Goron's Lullaby to Biggoron, he will let you in.

The chlidren return to Kerria and show Saria Nayru's Harp. She then teaches them the rest of Kokiri Song, though it's really called Saria's Song. She reveals it's a magical song that was used by the Hero of Time. With it, he could contact his best friend Saria. Supposedly, anyone named Saria afterwards could also be contacted with the song. Happy to help, Saria tells them to head back to Kokiri Forest.

After teleporting through the Lost Woods, Link and Tinker play Saria's Song to Aldo. Still slightly suspicious, Aldo lets them in to see the Great Deku Tree. They play Saria's Song to the Deku Tree, and, once hearing what's going on, gives them the Kokiri Sword.

The; boys head through the Lost Woods once again, but this time, the Skull Kid sees his Harp. They play Saria's Song together, and, happy to have a new friend, the Skull Kid allows them to teleport through the Lost Woods whenever they need to.

The children head back to Zora's Domain. Once there, they head back to Jabun's Quarters again and fight off the Moblins. At this point, Jabun stops being irritated by them and tells the boys that the Moblins have entered his stomach and are trying to make him eat all of Hyrule. At this point, more Moblins begin attacking him- this time from the inside- and he swallows Link and Tinker.

Now inside of Jabun, Link and Tinker search for Reubell, Siezor, and Zola, as well as the Moblins. On their way through the giant fish's stomach, they fight off several Moblins and some more Octoroks, as well as getting a boomerang by beating a Stalfos. Finally, they reach a jail cell-like area, where Zola, Siezor, and Reubell are all locked up, along with some other people including Tingle. Reubell tells them that the King Moblin is guarding a switch that will open up the cell. Zola slides the Boss Key through the bars of the cell, allowing the boys to access King Moblin's room. They battle against King Moblin using the boomerang. Once he's defeated, all of the Moblins flee from Jabun, and the cell holding all of Jabun's accidental victims opens. Zola and Siezor head back to Zora's Domain, and most other innocent Hylians head back to their homes, but Tingle stays in the cage. When/if Link, Tinker and Reubell talk to him, he will explain he has no home. At this point, he will follow them back to Zora's Domain. If they talk to him again, he explains that he wants to be a fairy and is now acting like one. Once they talk to the King Zora, he will thank them for saving Zola and Siezor. He then directs them to a nearby ranch- he is a close friend of the ranch owner and has sent a message ahead to tell the owner of Link and Tinker's arrival. The boys, Reubell, and Tingle head through Hyrule Trail towards Lon Lon Ranch.

Once arriving, they meet up with Malonm Fado and Mido once again. Mido and Malon are riding their horses: Epona and Jack. Malon tells them that a Zora is talking to their dad, Talon, inside, and when the boys explain that they need to talk to Talon, Malon and Mido open the door to let them in. Once inside, Link and Tinker are nodded to by a Zora, who then leaves. They talk to Talon, who is playing Epona's Song on his organ. He tells Link and Tinker why the Zora King sent them here. Underneath Lon Lon Ranch, there is supposedly a graveyard. This graveyard is filled with ghosts which have been haunting Lon Lon Ranch. Suddenly, a shriek is heard from outside. Link and Tinker rush out and discover that Malon and Fado are missing, while Mido is unconscious. Talon follows them, and once seeing what happened, tells Link and Tinker that the ghosts must have kidnapped them. He gives Link and Tinker permission to use Epona and Jack, as they are the only way to access the entrance to the graveyard. By leaping over a tall, stone fence, Link and Tinker tumble into a deep hole with their horses.

Link, Tinker, Reubell, the horses, and Tingle explore the dungeon, fighting several undead enemies, proving the suspicion of there being ghosts. On their way, they collect the Hover Boots. Finally, in the final room, they see Malon and Fado tied up. They attempt to free them, but Edgar and Allen, the Poe Bros., appear. Edgar and Allen destroy the middle of the floor, seperating the heroes from Malon and Fado, and effectively making four platforms. Link and Tinker use the hover boots to float to different platforms to get Bomb Flowers that are planted, and then throw them at Edgar and Allen. They also throw Tingle at one of the brothers, apparently killing him, but also hurting the Poe. Eventually, Edgar and Allen are defeated. The middle of the room begins to glow, and when the heroes walk towards it, Kaepora Gaebora rises out, with Tingle. He grants each of the heroes (except Reubell) a wish- giving each horse carrots, giving Malon and Fado back to Link and Tinker, and also turning Tingle into a fairy. Excited, Tingle decides to assist Link and Tinker, becoming Tinker's version of Reubell. Riding Epona and Jack, the heroes, Fado, Malon and Tingle arrive back at the ranch, where Talon and Mido are waiting. Glad to have been rescued, Malon, Mido and Fado give Link and Tinker permission to use Epona and Jack whenever they want, and teach them Epona's Song for Nayru's Harp, which will call Epona and Jack.

Fado realizes she needs to get home, and asks Link and Tinker to follow her, in case more ghosts return. Link and Tinker agree, and once they arrive at the bridge leading to her home town, they see Gerudo Pirates destroying the bridge. Link and Tinker stop them, but they, and the pirates, realize it's too late, and they all plummet.

Now in the Valley of the Gerudo, Link and Tinker are once again attacked by the Gerudo. After defeating them, Link and Tinker go through the twists and turns, finally collecting the Fire Seeds and Ice Seeds. Using them, they defeat Twinrova by damaging her with the opposite element of the current sister. Once Twinrova is defeated, Koume and Kotake thank the heroes for the fun game, and give them Din's Flute, as well as teaching them Gerudo's Building Song for both the harp. If they play it on the harp, they'll fix anything. Link and Tinker head back to the surface of the valley.

Once the heroes reach the top, Fado is very relieved to see that they're ok. She is upset, because she can't get home while the bridge is broken. Link and Tinker play Gerudo's Building Song on the harp, which fixes the bridge. Fado thanks them and heads home.

Link and Tinker head back to Hyrule, and on their way to the castle, they see Ok and Torok again. The Octoroks ask Link and Tinker to play with them, and by using their shields, the boys play ball. Once the game is over, the twins thank them by giving them the Hylian Sword and Shield combo.

Link and Tinker return to Hyrule Castle, where the King of Hyrule begins to feel major darkness approaching. The King of Hyrule orders the heroes to flee, but before they can leave Hyrule Castle, an evil cloud approaches, covering the entire kingdom of Hyrule, and knocking Link and Tinker unconscious.

The Seven Spirits[]

Link and Tinker wake up to see that the entire land is covered in darkness. The King of Hyrule sees that they're ok, and reveals they have been asleep for an entire week. He then tells them that Ganondorf has begun to take over- the only thing that can stop him is the six other Spirits, who Link and Tinker must find. He names the six places that they are most likely to be in- Kerria (a forest realm), Zora's Domain (a water realm), Death Mountain (a fire realm), Windei (a wind realm), Valley of the Gerudo (a realm filled with people- or life), and Hyrule (a light realm). He sends Link and Tinker to their home in Kerria first.

Once back in Kerria, Link and Tinker go to visit Saria again. However, they discover her missing- instead, their Grandma is there. Grandma reveals that Saria disappeared when the darkness came, and also reveals that Saria is truly the Spirit of Grass, and isn't really their sister either. She tells them that, if they find Saria, to play Saria's Song on Din's Flute. Link and Tinker head outside and find a note flying through the air. Reubell grabs it for them and reads it, revealing that Saria is trapped in the Grass Temple. They talk to Grandma again, who tells them to wear their Grass Tunic in order to enter the temple, as this will make them more powerful. They head into the nearby Grass Temple.

Once inside the Grass Temple, Link and Tinker discover a Re-Dead guarding Saria and a chest. They defeat it and free Saria, who sees that they have Din's Flute and tells them to play her song on it. Once taking control of her, she shows Link and Tinker how they can use her Grappling Hook, singing skills, and agility to open the chest. Once she opens it, she reveals that the Beetle is in it, and brings the small bug over to Link and Tinker. The three, with help from Reubell and Tingle, continue through the dungeon, finding large amounts of much stronger Deku Babas known as Extreme Babas. Using the Beetle, they defeat these plants and eventually reach Master Baba, with help from Saria, of course. When they finally reach Master Baba's room, the giant plant kidnaps Saria. When Link and Tinker enter the giant plant's room, he attacks by lunging at them. To damage him, Link and Tinker dodge his bites and use their sword to attack his stem- his weak point. Once they do this, however, he pounds the ground with his head, seperating him and the heroes with a huge pit. Now, Link and Tinker have to use the Hover Boots to get over there and use their sword as an attack again. After doing this, he makes the pit even larger- now they can't float over it. They use their Beetle for the last two blows, and the giant plant disintegrates, freeing Saria. Saria allows them to use her Grappling Hook once to get to her, though she immediately takes it back. Link and Tinker enter the next room to see a statue with Saria's Song notes on it. Saria feels the urge to sing the song, and when she does, the statue breaks open to reveal the Grass Medal. Saria holds the Grass Medal and realizes that she is, indeed, the Spirit of Grass. She apoligizes that she can't come back, but reveals that if Link and Tinker use the Grass Medal, they can call her and take control of her again. She also gives them Farore's Ocarina and teaches them the Grass' Lyric.

Link and Tinker emerge from the Grass Temple and head to Zora's Domain, the water zone. To their surprise, they find that Lake Hylia has completely evaporated. They find Tetra and Niko on the shore, and once talking to them, they discover that the King of Red Lions is trapped. They ask Link and Tinker to try to fill the lake once again, so the brothers enter Zora's Domain to figure out where the water went.

Once inside Zora's Domain, Link and Tinker discover that it, too, is completely evaporated. Several Zoras are seen half-dead from lack of water. Link and Tinker go to ask King Zora what happened, and he explains that the darkness blocked off the Water Dungeon, which keeps them from getting any water. He also reveals that Jabun is missing. Zola then rushes out of Jabun's Domain and reveals that they only have one hour to get through the Water Dungeon before all of the Zoras will die. Somehow Zola is completely fine, though she isn't sure why. Link and Tinker decide to go through the Water Dungeon to save the Zoras, but Zola insists that she should help, because there are several different Zora-based challenges. She gives you the Water Tunic and teaches you that if you play Zora's Minuet on Din's Flute, you can take control of her. With help from Zola, Link and Tinker head into the Water Dungeon.

With help from Zola, Link and Tinker easily navigate the long dungeon. On their way, they find the Mirror Shield, which they use to redirect light to evaporate some of the water. Using the Mirror Shield, they head towards the boss room. Before they can enter, Zola is eaten by the boss- a large, whale-like creature. Link and Tinker enter and start the battle. Using the Mirror Shield, the boys redirect light into the large whale Jaggun's many eyes, destroying them and damaging him. Once all of his eyes are gone, his mouth opens and they attack his uvula, damaging him. However, his eyes regenerate. They repeat this two more times and he sinks into the water. A couple of seconds later, he reemerges as Jabun, revealing that the darkness attacked him and turned him into a beast. He then spits out Zola, and reveals to her that she is the Spirit of Water. Shocked, Zola begins to awaken as her true form. She teaches the boys the Water Serenade, and gives them the Water Medal, for the same reasons as Saria taught them the Grass Lyric and Grass Medal.

The Lost Woods[]

The Lost Woods are the first, second, and fourth dungeon in the game. Later, you return after attempting to enter Jabun's Quarters. Fortunetely, you can take the teleport- however, after getting the Kokiri Sword and Nayru's Harp, you must get through the dungeon a third time. This time, after defeating Skull Kid, he has you play Saria's Song with him as a duet, and allows you to teleport easily through every time they try to enter. At one point, Link and Tinker go through the Lost Woods- however, it isn't seen as the player is teleported straight to Kerria.

Hyrule Temple[]

When you first attempt to meet with Zelda, you must sneak around secret paths of the Temple, therefore making it a dungeon. It is the third dungeon in the game, but doesn't have a boss.

Valley of the Gerudo is the seventh dungeon in the game. It only has Gerudo as enemies, and the boss is Twinrova- AKA Koume & Kotake. You gain the Fire Seeds and Ice Seeds in this dungeon.

Grass Temple[]

The Grass Temple is the eighth dungeon in the game, and the first dungeon for the spirits. It has Deku Babas and Extreme Babas as the main enemies, though different enemies also appear, including the new enemy Re-Dead. The boss is Master Baba. You gain the Beetle in this dungeon.

Water Dungeon[]

The Water Dungeon is the ninth dungeon in the game, and the second dungeon for the spirits. It uses Octoroks, Tektites, and Like Likes as enemies, though there are also some Re-Deads and Stalfos. The boss is Jaggun. You gain the Mirror Shield in this dungeon. This dungeon has a time limit- if you don't complete it within 1 hour, all of the Zoras will die.
