Statue Mario is a form that Tanooki Mario can use. It is invulnerable, can defeat strong enemies if aimed to land on them, and can confuse nearby enemies. However, its user is immobile until they turn back into Tanooki Mario. Statue Mario first appears in Super Mario Bros. 3, where it is accessed by pressing

The form reappears in Super Mario 3D Land, where only Tanooki Mario with a scarf, granted by the Statue Leaf, can access it. As such, Statue Mario proper is redesigned to have the same colored scarf. Turning into Statue Mario now replaces the Ground Pound.
