Sonic Generations II: FourSpikes (known in PAL regions as Sonic Generations: Team of Four and in Japan as ソニックジェネレーションズ2 - 4つの時間を!! Sonniku Jenerēshonzu - 4tsu no Jikan!!) is an upcoming 2016 game developed by Sonic Team and published by SEGA. Unlike it's predecessor, Sonic Generations, this game is exclusive to Wii U and NEW 3DS. Also unlike the 3DS version, the NEW 3DS sequel is full 3D for Modern stages, and much more content. This game was released for Sonic the Hedgehog's 25th anniversary. Despite the game having both Classic and Modern Sonic's return, it also features two new Sonics: Sonic Boom Sonic and DreamCast Sonic.
Gameplay[]
This game is a Platforming Action Adventure game with gameplay similiar to the older Sonic games. It also features stages completely from previous Sonic the Hedgehog titles. The gameplay is very akin to the Sonic Generations formula; Modern Sonic's gameplay shares the same formula as Sonic Colors, Sonic Generations and Sonic Unleashed. Classic Sonic's formula, is also the same as the Classic Sonic games Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic CD and Sonic 3 & Knuckles. However, since the game also introduces two new Sonics to play as, there will be new gameplay elements, or ones returning from previous games. DreamCast Sonic plays out like the DreamCast titles, Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure 2, somewhat playing like Sonic Heroes. Meanwhile, Sonic Boom Sonic plays like Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric and Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal. DreamCast Sonic has abilities such as Light Speed Dash and Spindash. He can also obtain items you could find in Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure 2. Such as the Bounce Bracelet. Sonic Boom Sonic is the most slow of the rest. However, his gameplay is more combat-focused, and you have the option to make him sprint with the press of a button. He also has the enerbeam, which he can use to destroy enemies into certain distances, somewhat damaging them. Unlike Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric, you don't simply mash a button and defeat an enemy. You must input challenging combos with certain enemies, and some, you have to use a certain attack such as the Enerbeam. Punches and Kicks are also now seperate buttons for better challenges.
Each time you reach the end of the stage, it differs for each Sonic. Classic Sonic reaches a Goal Post, DreamCast and Modern Sonic reaches a Goal Ring, and Sonic Boom Sonic reaches a simple path. Depending on how many rings you've collected, how fast you reach the end of the stage and your score, you will be graded with ranks F, E, D, C, B, A, S, and SSS.
You can also unlock items, abilities and skills by collecting Red Rings, Rings and completing Missions. There are also plenty of missions for you to complete this time around, more than Generations, which had quite an amount.
