Super Smash Bros. Ultra is a fighting game for Wii U. It is the sixth game in the Super Smash Bros. series. The game is currently in development by Fantasy Factory. The game is planned for a late 2012 release.
Gameplay[]
The game plays the same as previous installments, but is especially based on Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Players fight against each other on stages based off famous Nintendo series. Each character has their own special moves and a Final Smash, based on their history. The player wins by knocking their opponents off the screen. Moves like taunting and slipping also return. However, the game also uses the Wii U GamePad. Players can use items by using the Touch Screen. The player can also control and select the characters, stages, or options with it. It takes over most of the Wii Remote's functions.
A new option is introduced, called the Touch Mode. Here, players can kick, use an item or jump by touching the Wii U GamePad's Touch Screen.
Characters[]
Super Smash Bros. Ultra counts 43 characters (51 if counting the alternates and the Pokémon as separate characters). 22 are already available from the start, while 18 have to be unlocked. In addition, 4 downloadable characters were added, called the DLC Characters. Players are able to download them in the game's channel.

Final Destination | Super Smash Bros. Ultra | A single, moving platform that takes the players into space. Players will travel through the galaxy and sometimes land on planets with their unique gimmicks. Meteors and other obstacles sometimes land on the stage, damaging players if hit. Also, Master Hand will sometimes show up and battle the players, but this is very rare.
Comet Observatory | Super Mario Galaxy / Super Mario Galaxy 2 | Players start at the main entrance of the Comet Observatory. At random moments a Launch Star appears and the players are shot to the Good Egg Galaxy, Battlerock Galaxy, Starship Mario, Yoshi Star Galaxy, Puzzle Plank Galaxy or Grandmaster Galaxy.
Acorn Grasslands | New Super Mario Bros. U |
Acorn Grasslands resembles the first world of New Super Mario Bros. U. Flying Squirrels sometimes fly around, damaging players if hit. Also, Super Acorns can fall out of the big tree, also damaging players if hit.
Ghostly Manor | Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon | A huge mansion with different rooms: the Main Hall, the Kitchen, the Bedroom, the Living Room, and a completely dark room, known as The Room of Doom. The room magically switches to another room at random moments, and each room has different gimmicks.

Koopalings | The Koopalings fly around in the Koopa Clown Car in the background, charging their wands, and turn a player into stone two times.
Kamek | Kamek flies around on his broom, releasing magic on the stage. The magic has random effects, such as making the player larger or making enemies appear that will attack the opponents.
Tingle | Random items are send onto the stage by Tingle, but can't hurt the user. They can also be trophies or hearts, that can be picked up.
Midna | Midna makes a Dark Copy of Wolf Link, who will run horizontally across the stage. If hit, he will eat the player and spit it out with much power.
Impa | ||
Knuckle Joe | Knuckle Joe jumps around on the stage, and uses his fists to hit and damage random players.
Lucas | Lucas chases a player, and then uses PK Freeze to freeze them. |
Trivia[]
- Although this is the sixth installment in the series, only stages from Super Smash Bros. Brawl, the third installment, reappear, probably because the fourth and fifth installments were in too early development.
- If the Koopalings are used when Bowser releases his Final Smash, their Koopa Clown Car disappears and they fall, to eventually be destroyed when off-screen.
