Sonic Heroes: Ultimate (ソニックヒーローズ: アルティメット) is a remastered release of Sonic Heroes created by Gempony7. It is published by Sonic Team in the (possible) future thanks to the success of Sonic Adventure 2: Advanced released prior. This marks the first re-release of Sonic Heroes since 2003.

Updates[]

Modifications[]

  • Due to the new hardware, the graphics overall were updated thanks to the Hedgehog Engine 2. Many visual improvements to the character models, enemy models, and landscaping were also done with this release, namely, to match their current models.
  • A new achievement system has been added into the release, most notable for PC and Xbox releases.

Changes from Original Release[]

  • An option between "Classic" and "Modern" models can be accessed in the options menu.
  • The "Easy mode" and "Hard Mode" of the original game can now be accessed by all the teams rather than being split amongst each team.
  • The levels are as long as they were in the "Dark Team" levels by default.

New Features[]

Difficulty Modes[]

In contrast to the previous version of the game, who's difficulty level differed depending on the team the player would select, the difficulty is shared through all four teams. Just before the player begins the adventure, the player is able to change the difficulty level to complete the story in. The game is selected as Normal Mode by default, with an optional Easy Mode.

Easy Mode[]

Easy Mode includes less enemies going through the various levels of the game. In this mode, the player only loses half of their rings when hit. While easy to complete the game, this mode doesn't earn any achievements or unlockable features.

SRR powertype

Hard Mode[]

Hard Mode is only unlocked after the player completes the main four stories in normal mode. Hard Mode increases enemies in each level, and offers less opportunities to gain rings, and becomes harder to gain a Team Blast. This mode is the one where many of the unlockable features are gained through.

Missions[]

As each level is completed, each level unlocked for the characters is given up to three different missions to complete. These missions are in similar vein to the main Chaotix Missions from the original release, in which the player is tasked with more unorthodox missions throughout each of the levels. Each mission is unlocked for each team completing a specific level, and the missions can be picked from its own separate "Missions" option in the main menu, many which come down to four types:

  • Speed - complete the stage in a time limit
  • Flight - reach the goal ring without touching the main floor
  • Power - destroy a specific number of enemies throughout the level
  • Chaotic - collect specific items within each level

Each of these levels are ranked similarly to the original game.

Aftermath DLC[]

The "Aftermath DLC" is a downloadable addition to Sonic Heroes Ultimate released at the same time as the main game. The DLC is made as a direct-sequel mini story to the main game, including two more teams added to the game, additional levels, and more achievements to unlock.

Team Hooligan[]

Story:[]

The notable Treasure Hunting Team Fang, Bark, and Bean were on their latest escapade together, riding through the countryside in Fang's Marvelous Queen and talking about their latest heist. As they drive along, they get a phone call by the one and only Doctor Eggman. After they learn about Neo Metal Sonic's latest escapade, the Doctor hires them to go out and destroy him before he could have a chance to regain power again while he tries another plan to take over the world. Fang promises to the job, thinking that a Metal Sonic would give them good money, and they set out to find the renegade robot.

Team Protector[]

Due to his own failure, and betrayal to Eggman, Metal Sonic is tossed out to the trash heap, Eggman exclaiming that he will find himself a brand-new model to replace him. Left broken and on the verge of collapse, he is found by travelers Mighty, and Ray, who decide to fix him up into a new shape, apply naming him "Bio Metal". During this, they find of Eggman's plans through some robots passing by, and they decide to stop the doctor before he could get the world back.
