Purple Coins are a type of coin that appears in Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2 when a Purple Comet comes into orbit. If Mario or Luigi collects 100 Purple Coins, he will receive a Power Star. These replace the 100-coin Power Stars from Super Mario 64.
