Super Mario Galaxy 3 is a sequel to the two classic Super Mario Galaxy game. The components are very similar to the first two, except there are new galaxies, more characters, and a different storyline. Bowser has stolen the Comet Observatory itself to rule the galaxy this time! This game features similar mechanics designed to fit the Golden System Z consol.
Storyline[]
Warning: This storyline includes previous storylines and also is the complete storyline for this game.
Mario, Luigi, Peach, and Blue Toad are around a table playing a board game with Toadette and Daisy watching. Blue Toad jumps off his stool celebrating after winning the game. As he’s celebrating, they all suddenly hear a crash outside. The six of rhem run outside and see Rosalina with a whole bunch of Luna’s lying on the ground unconscious. Mario takes her inside with others each taking a Luma or two. Rosalina finally wakes up and explains to them how Bowser had stolen the a Comet Observatory and had launched her and all the Lumas all over the cosmos. She said that Mario had to help them get the Comet Observatory back by retrieving the Lumas and Powere Stars.
There was one problem, they didn’t have a spaceship. Luigi got an idea and led them out into the castle garden. The Odyssey was out there. With some fixing they could turn it into a spaceship. To start you need to find several pieces of itemus thoughout the castle (explained below). Once the Odyssey was changed into a spaceship they set off into the universe. When they reached space, the Odyssey let out a danger sign, since all seven of them plus a few Lumas were all on it. Suddenly, it exploded! Launching everyone but Mario and Blue Toad out into the cosmos.
You first enter the Phase: Rebuild, as only the base of the Odyssey was left to fly. You must go to 6 different galaxies to rebuild the Odyssey into a spaceship. There are no Lumas or stars in these galaxies. In this 3rd galaxy, the Shooting Star galaxy, is where you will unlock Luigi. Once the Odyssey is rebuilt from these six galaxies, you can move on to World 1.
Toadette is unlocked in World 3 in the Mushroom Heights Galaxy.
(After World 6 is completed) The Odyssey if flying through space. Suddenly, another spaceship comes into view. Mario recognizes immediately, it's Starship Mario. The Odyssey flies toward the Starship, only to find it has been abandoned. As the four of them are on the ship looking what could of happened, Luigi finds a black hole near the bottom of the ship. The four of them enter the black hole leading the alternate dimension. After you complete all the puzzles in the alternate dimension all the Lumas should have returned to the Starship. Also when they return they find Rosalina on the Starship, she immediately becomes a playable character. Mario and friends have a brief reunion with Rosalina and Lubba, but soon they must set out again.
The path splits two ways. One can only be accessed if flying on Starship Mario, the other can only be accessed by the Odyssey. Daisy is unlocked in the Flower Factory Galaxy on Starship Mario's path.
Once you reach the comet Observatory, it's obvious that it is now Bowser's, with his flags, koopas, and his other minions all over it. When Mario and the other get off the Odyssey, you can see Bowser was waiting for them at the top of the tower where the garden is with Peach. You must fight Bowser as you work your way up to where Peach is. Once you defeat Bowser and rescue Peach, you can go and explore more galaxies, and go back to Mario and Peach's planet. After you rescue Peach, you can play as her. Some galaxies can only be accessed by Starship Mario and the Comet Observatory, as you can now switch off between the three spaceships.

- Other considered playable characters were Wario, Waluigi, DK, Pauline, Nabbit, and Sprixie Princess
- The spin jump does not lift you as high as another jump itself
- The coin no longer heals health
- Lumas play a role similar to Star Coins
- You can switch between the three spaceships after an mission, but some galaxies can only be accessed with one
