It's time for my take

Gold's Super Smash Bros. is the newest instalment in the Smash Bros series, this time being developed by Golden Studios and only published by Nintendo. It was released on ??/??/?? for Nintendo Switch.

Gameplay[]

Screen Shot 2017-11-09 at 9.57.21 AM

Gold's Super Smash Bros plays the same as the last 7 installments. The SSB series is unique as it has characters health replaced by %'s. As each Player gets hit more and more, they're % grows higher and higher. The higher the %, the farther they'll fly. The goal is to knock the opponent off of the stage and/or off the screen in order to Score a K.O. The highest % is 999%.

The controls don't differ from the last game. They are more or less the same from the last game, with Final Smashes and charged attacks. There is also new grab attack, however: when in mid-air, you can grab the opponent and throw them in and direction. Also, if two players try to grab each other at the same time, there grabs will cancel each other out. Finally, the wavedash tech from Melee has returned as it's own funtion, and was implemented for more competitive players.

Up to 12 players can now play locally AND Online, making for some insane matches. You can play using a Nintendo Switch standard controler, a pro controler, a Nintendo 3DS, standard Joycons, Wii remotes, Wii controlers, and a Gamecube controller. The controls are as seen in the image above. If you are unhappy with the cotrols, the option to refigure them is always there in the menu so you can play to your liking. Only a handfull of stages can be played on with 12 characters.

B: Bazooka

<>B: Laser Bomb

^B: Jetpack

vB: Reflector

KrystalSSBV

Star Fox

Krystal joins the frey!

B: Blaster Shot

<>B: Boomerang

^B: Flash Vixen

NessSSBCalamity

Earthbound

Ness is PK Rockin'!

B: PK Freeze

<>B: PK Fire

vB: PSI Counter

FS: Pig King

Porky is by far the heaviest character in the game, being very hard to K.O via sheer strengh alone. That being said, he's very slow and he might want to stay away from ledges, as he has pretty poor recovery options to use.

His Final Smash is King Pig, where Porky summons the King Pig statue to attack others.

Pokemon

Pikachu brings Shock and Awe!

B: Thunder Jolt

<>B: Skull Bash

^B: Quick Attack

His FS is Volt Tackle, where Pikachu dashes around the stage with an electric field.

068Machamp

Pokemon

Machamp fights four glory!

B: Shield Breaker

<>B: Dance Blade

^B: Dolphin Slash

vB: Counter

FS: Mecha Rider

Maxwell is one of the games most unique fighters, as his specials all are unique, from spawning in items with his notebook to adding temerary objectives to opponents. Maxwell himself is a floaty and fast yet pretty weak fighter.

His Final Smash is Mecha Rider, where Maxwell spawns in a mach and wrecks havok on foes.

FS: Freeze Time

Hat Girl is a light character who moves pretty fast and has the games best airial attacks, but isn't the strongest in attack power. Neverless, her unique ability to lunge forward to gain extra horizontal range gives her an edge.

Her Final Smash is Time Freeze, where Hat Girl freezes time and messes with the opponents.

FS: War Horn

Shovel Knight is, predictibily, pretty heavy thanks to all that armor, and doesn't have the best jumps. That said, he is decently fast and his tools are pretty varietied for combat. Plus, he can use a Pogo move on the opponents heads.

His Final Smash is War Horn, where SK pulls out the horn and blows into it, hurting close players.

Bayonetta is a very hard character to master, as most of her attacks, even her specials, take time to get used to. When you do, though, she becomes a great character. She herself is a glass canon, dealing and getting damage.

Her Final Smash is InfernoClimax, where Bayo summons a demon to destroy the opponents.

B: Bwaster

<>B: Turret Bomb

^B: Team Spring

vB: Self-Heal

FS: Ambush!

The Rabbid is a small character, being pretty hard to hit, and also is pretty fast, but isn't too strong. She mainly relies on his many long ranged weapons, and for melee carries a old but effective weapon: A plunger.

Her Final Smash is 'Ambush!'where enemies start causing chaos on the battlefield.

vB: Take a Break

FS: Screen Break

Reckless Man's gameplay is like his name: very reckless. He's a hard hitting character with good speed and poor defence. His "Take a Break" move, however, can fix that for a few seconds. He has pretty good recovery.

His Final Smash is Screen Break, where he breaks the screen making damaging cracks.

FS: Stay Fresh!

The Squid Sisters, much like the Ice Climbers, are 2 characters in 1. However, you swap between them with your down taunt. Callie is strong but slow, and Marie is fast but weak. Most attacks stay the same.

Their Final Smash is Stay Fresh!, where the two start singing as ink rains from above them.

The Animal Buddies are unique in that you switch between them via using cetan moves, like in Kirby Star Allies. As the default, you play as Rick, and the others are Kine, Coo, and Pitch. Guess the other two sat this out.

Their Final Smash is Super Candy, where they become invincible for a few seconds.

The Labo Mech may look big, bulky, and slow, but it's actually made of cardboard, making it a decently fast and floaty fighter. However, it's defence is also kinda low, but it is kinda strong. The kid controlling it will be in the background.

It's Final Smash is Tank Mode, where it turns into the tank and starts shooing everyone.

Name Info/Objective
D7dbf41c6b51de9105307c1401943dba In Classic Mode, you fight through different rounds of A.I controlled opponents and other challenges until you reach the final boss. Usually each round contains a spacific challenge to complete, and doing so will land you rewards. The difficulty settings also have an impact besides making things harder, as it can change the Final Boss from Master Hand to Crazy Hand to both to the new villain, Skeleton Hand. The harder the difficulty, the more rewards.
739fdf1e320665a9a842aa17fd531e57 In All-Star Mode, you need to defeat every opponent you've unlocked so far in a single stock, meaning you only have one try at this. Every character is sorted out by when they debuted, meaning you can get a good idea of who you'll be fighting next if you know when the character first debuted. There are 3 difficulty settings: Easy Mode with 5 healing items, Normal Mode with 3 healing items, and Hard Mode with only 1 healing item. Use them wisley.

In Multi-Men Melee, you fight against a hoard of enemies. While they themselves are pretty weak, they come in large packs. This mode has several different options:

Numbers: 10-Men Melee, 30-Men Melee, 50-Men Melee, 100-Men Melee, Infinite-Men Melee, Crule-Melee

Time: 5 Minute Melee, 10 Minute Melee, Infinite Melee.

Enemies: Polygon Men, Wire Frames, Fightin Alloys, Miis

078ff6d7a088155711a840c9bdde0620 In the Tower of Smash Mode, you as any character of your choosing travel up a Tower of 100 challenges. Each Challenge is randomly generated, and get harder as you get higher in the tower. In every 20 floor, a random boss from Story Mode is fought, and in the final floor has you face off against Master Hand, Crazy Hand, and Skeleton Hand at the same time. If you run out of stocks, you have to re-try the challenge. Unlike the other modes, this one allows saving.

Multiplayer[]

Name Info/Objective
91af9bce469d00572be430015e6a5134 In Smash Mode, you and up to 7 friends/A.I controlled players duke it out in a fight. Trivia[]

  • The game was originally called Josh's Super Smash Bros, but it was changed to avoid confusion from Jake's Super Smash Bros.
  • Originally, the game was going to have an update system where every update came with new characters and other content. However, it was too much hassle and was decided against.
