Sonic the Hedgehog (2014 Live-Action Movie)

Sonic the Hedgehog is a 2014 CGI meets live action film. It received negative review, scoring a "rotten" rating on Rotten Tomatoes. It was released August 1, 2014. A game adaption was made on June 25, 2014. It was created by Sony pictures. It was rated PG for fantasy violence and crude humor

PLOT[]

When one of Tails experiments go wrong, Sonic, Sally and Tails are sent to the past. They find themselves in New York. They meet a boy named Chris. The only one stopping them from getting back to the future is the evil Dr. Rex Mecha, AKA, Eggman.

STORY[]

The story starts when a baby hedgehog is kidnapped by vulture Mobians. They plan on killing him to eat him. All of a sudden, a female fox and a male fox come and save the baby, taking him to their home. They named him Sonic, due to his speed. She the love interested with Sally Acorn, and he becomes great buddies with his adopted brother Tails, but one night the vultures come back and kill their parents.

One day, Tails is working on a time machine. Tails leaves and tells Sonic not to mess with it. Sonic just can't help himself and presses a button. The machine starts malfunctioning, and Tails comes in yelling at Sonic. The machine explodes, taking hundreds of Mobians into different p!aces into the past.

Sonic, Sally and Tails wake up in the middle of New York in the year 2014. They are confused about what's going on. They stumble through New York and meet a 12 year old boy named Chris Thorndyke. He is confused about them at first, but helps them find the parts for Tails' machine.

When an evil scientist discovers Mobians around Earth, he plans on capturing them all to experiment, this scientist is Dr. Eggman. He sends his robots to go find them.

Sonic, Sally, and Tails discover that an ENTIRE flying island has came from the future over the ocean. Sonic, Sally, Tails, and Chris go to it, only to be attacked by robots. Sonic defeats them and they find the Chaos Emeralds, but Eggman steals them and uses them to make machines to capture Mobians. All of a sudden, Knuckles comes and explains he is the guardian of this island, and starts punching Eggman. Eggman flies away and Knuckles agrees to help the three.

Eggman has discovered that Mobians have special powers inside them, and fusing their power with the Chaos Emeralds can make him invincible. All of a sudden, Sonic breaks into his lab and starts attacking him. Eggman replies it's too late as he presses a button, and starts draining the energy from a Mobian dog.

Knuckles and Tails go, and Chris tries to come, but Tails and Knuckles tell him its too dangerous. Tails and Knuckles start fighting Eggman, but he captures them. Sonic is angry and starts attacking Eggman, but is captured too. The power drains from the four Mobians, but Chris starts punching the machine and breaking parts.

Eggman picks up the boy and tries to tie him up, but Chris kicks him and is dropped. Chris breaks Sonic out and Sonic breaks Tails and Knuckles out, but before he can break out the dog, Eggman presses a button and power drains from the dog. Eggman then transforms into a giant monster, and starts destroying the city.

Sonic goes out and starts running up the monster and dashing. The monster picks up Sonic and starts crushing him, laughing. Tails starts breaking the machine, but can't destroy a certain thing, asking Knuckles to do the honors. Knuckles punches the machine, and the power is given back to the dog, and Eggman turns to normal.

Cops come and arrest Eggman, and Eggman says he would've gotten away with it if.... But the cop interrupts him.

Tails uses the parts of the machine Eggman made to finish his time machine. Sonic decides to keep the dog as a pet and names him Chilli Dog. Chilli then transforms into a monster dog and barks, then goes back. Sonic then says, well, we might have to work on your house training....

The Mobians say goodbye to Chris and his family, and Tails presses a button and the time machine sends all the Mobians and Angel Island back to the future.

Sonic, Sally, Tails, Knuckles, and Chilli go to Sonic, Sally and Tails' house and Tails asks Knuckles if he wants to stay with them. Knuckles says he cant, because he needs to guard Angel Island. They say bye as he leaves.

Sonic looks at all 7 Chaos Emeralds and says they might need these one day.

BACK IN THE PAST, Eggman puts his evil soul into a rotten egg, and sends it into the future.

The credits are of Sonic and friends dancing.

RECEPTION[]

It had mixed to negative reviews. People said: "It just doesn't have the Sonic vibe... And Chris was something that really should've stayed in Sonic X. Although, he was actually better portrayed here."

SEQUEL[]

On the opening day, people asked if they would do a sequel. SEGA said with the reception of this film, it would be a bit risky for a sequel, even though there was sort of a cliffhanger.

On December 19, 2014, SEGA said there would indeed be a sequel. This one was to take place in the future of Möbius, and there would be no humans beside Eggman.

On January 24, 2015, SEGA announced that the sequel would be CGI, as they felt that would be a better environment for Sonic. Considering the reception of this movie, they decided to work with BlueSky animation instead, known for their movies such as Ice Age, Robots, and Rio.

On Febuary 4, 2016, the release date for the sequel would be in 2017. People asked tthe name of the sequel, SEGA replied it would be named Sonic the Hedgehog 2: Revenge of Eggman.

However, on December 18, the name was changed to just Sonic. SEGA said they felt they didn't want people to think it was just a plain follow-up to this one.
