Beam is a Copy Ability that Kirby can use in the Kirby series, which debuted in Kirby's Adventure. Ever since, it has been one of the most recurring abilities for him, appearing in almost every installment, and usually being one of the first he can obtain. It allows Kirby to use a beam of magic energy to attack enemies, and in later games, other attacks as well.

Description[]

Beam Kirby wears a yellow-and-red jester hat, with a white brim and white puffs at the hat's tips. The yellow side of the hat also has a pattern of white stars (the red half also has a star pattern in some games). Kirby also wields a gold wand with a bluish-green gem on top of it. In some games, Beam Kirby's body also changes from pink to orange to further differentiate from other abilities.

Beam Kirby's main attack has him release a whip-like beam of energy from his wand (hand in Kirby's Adventure) that sways downward, identical to the beams that Waddle Doos fire out of their eyes. This attack forces him to stop in place, but its range makes it a rather safe move to throw out. Starting with Kirby Super Star, Beam Kirby would gain additional abilities, such as charging up for a powerful blast of energy, and trapping foes in a beam in order to throw them. In some games, such as Kirby: Squeak Squad and Kirby Star Allies, these attacks also have electrical properties similar to Spark and Plasma, allowing Beam Kirby to activate wires or imbue allies with the Zap effect.

Beam also has a Super Ability in Kirby's Return to Dream Land, known as Flare Beam, as well as a Robobot Armor mode themed on it in Kirby: Planet Robobot. In the Kirby Clash series, the Beam is renamed to Beam Mage, which has the ability to stop enemies in their place with beam attacks.
