Pokémon: Let's Go, Johto! Raikou and Pokémon: Let's Go, Johto! Entei are the first Pokémon games of Generation IX. The games are a remake of Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver, but with a story more similar to the Pokémon Adventures manga. The games serve as sequels to Pokémon Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon Let’s Go, Eevee!, but the gameplay is largely derived from Pokémon Legends: Arceus.
Plot[]
The plot is initially largely identical to the plot of HeartGold, but with characters from the Adventures manga like the Masked Man. Like the original Johto games, Professor Elm gives the player a choice of Chikorita, Cyndaquil, or Totodile. The first major difference is the Pokémon egg given to the player by Mr. Pokémon hatches back in Professor Elm’s lab when the player is about to give over the Egg to for him tos Trudy. It hatches into either an Azurill (if the player chooses Chikorita), a Pichu (if the player chooses Cyndaquil), or a Togepi (if the player chooses Totodile.) This is because starting with the battle with the Masked Man in Ilex Forest, the game emphasizes Double Battles for bosses.
At first, the only major apparent change is that the third Gym Leader is Ariana, a Dark-type Gym leader. She is later revealed to be one of the two leaders of Team Rocket, alongside Archer. She is replaced by Whitney after defeating Team Rocket in the Radio Tower. There is a major plot shift after Team Rocket takes over the Radio Tower — Giovanni rerhturns to head Team Rocket! After the player defeats Giovanni a schism emerges in the team, with Giovanni leading Team Rainbow Rocket and the Masked Man leading Team Silver Rocket. The two Team Rockets serve as the primary antagonists of the game in the Sevii Islands and Kanto.

Gameplay[]
Difficulty: Easy, Normal, Challenge
Gameplay changes:
- All changes from Pokémon Legends: Arceus are implemented in the Battle System, including Grit Items for EVs
- However like in previous games your Pokemon gain exp after a Pokemon faints, not when the battle ends like in PLA
- You can evolve Pokémon mid-battle now, except against real players
- Triple Battles are now identical to double battles
- Some moves like Spikes or Stealth Rock are different in a trainer battle than vs wild Pokémon
Difficulty: Easy, Normal, Challenge
Type changes:
- Ice type now resists not only Ice but also Water, Flying, and Ground
- Fairy now weak to Bug
- Bug resists Fairy, Dark, Psychic
Weather changes:
- New weather: smog, hurts all Pokémon but Poison & Steel each turn
- raises the Special Defense of Poison Pokémon by 50%.
- 2x strong Weather Ball - Poison type
- Causes Solar Beam to have its power halved.
- Causes Moonlight, Synthesis, and Morning Sun to only recover ¼ of max HP.
- Castform has new forms: Sandstorm and Smog forms, which are Rock and Poison type
- Castform weather forms now have 520 BST and Levitate, making them actually decent
- Forecast: Levitates while changing type to reflect weather and terrain.
Battle changes
- All battle changes from PL: Arceus remain!
- Action Commands similar to those in Paper Mario (N64) are available in battle and can reduce or increase an attack’s damage similar to that game
- Ice Body now copies Flame Body, where one can get frostbite on contact.
- Snow Body Ability heals Pokémon during Snow
- Hail now induces Frostbite instead of setting weather. It’s an Ice-type Will-o-Whisp.
- Snowfall: New move which causes Snow to occur.
- Iron Tail and Rock Smash now 80 power, 100% accuracy and a 100% chance to lower the target's Defense. Basically Steel and Fighting type versions of Fire Lash.
- Since evasion now doesn’t stack, most Pokémon can learn Minimize via TM. To balance this, almost all Pokémon with feet can learn Stomp via TM.
- No more One-Hit KO moves. However these moves are retooled to be similar to Hyper Beam: they deal 150 BP & the user must recharge. Guillotine is now a Steel Move
- Scald 1x effective to Ice types
- New move: Slush Crush (Special) 40 BP Ice-type Pursuit.
- Extinguish: Ice-type 70 BP 100% Accuracy Super effective on Fire types
- Pykrete Beat: Ice and Grass type 95 BP 100% Accuracy
- Hidden Power can be Fairy Type
- Frozen Pokémon frozen for at least 1 turn but no more than 5 (in hail there is no limit)
- Attract has a 34% chance of working on a same-gender Pokémon
- New Abilities:
- Bird: Flying STAB to user and ally, like Steely Spirit. No ground immunity.
- Quantum: As One but the second Ability is jettisoned if the Pokémon is confused, paralyzed, frozen, or asleep
- Magnet Rise: now a Hidden Ability for Magnemite, Porygon, Metagross, Klinklang lines, Probopass, Carbink and Diancie, Xurkitree, Celesteela, Guzzlord, Necrozma, Magearna, Stakakata, Regieleki, and Alolan Raichu. It can be renewed by the move of the same name only, not by switching out
- Rotom Fan & Mow now have the Motor Drive Ability instead of Levitate
- Unnerve Ability now prevents Leftovers from working in addition to Berries
