Balloon Boo is a Boo that puffs up when faced but chased Mario and gets small. He first appeared in New Super Mario Bros. and then later in New Super Mario Bros. VR.

Balloon Boo appears as a boss in Super Mario MHL.
New Super Mario Bros. VR[]
Balloon Boos reappear as enemies only again in New Super Mario Bros. VR, where they are quite rare, but appear in the first ghost house of World 7 and then in the castle, where a giant blue Balloon Boo is revealed, called Bumper Boo.
New Super Mario Bros U 2: Return to the Mushroom World[]
Balloon Boos appear here as enemies found in Ghost Houses and, occasionally, in fortresses. Like in their very first appearance, these enemies puff up when being faced by the player and deflate to chase him/her
