BowieQuest, also known as BowieQuest RPG, is a 2014 action-RPG game developed by Orangutang Pizza for the Nintendo Wii U. The game is a departure from previous games in the series, as it is an RPG game set in a fantasy world, unlike the adventure games set in modern day. It is a part of the "Unofficial Series Swap Day" of 2014.
The game plays similar to other fantasy RPG's, such as Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch or Final Fantasy VII, as players must traverse a three-dimensional landscape, exploring dungeons and fighting bosses and enemies to continue the story.
Similar to the Pokémon series, attacks and enemies are placed into different "type" categories, classified as Signs. There are eight Signs: Lunar (χ), Solar (φ), Spectral (θ), Elemental (η), Mutation (ψ), Power (γ), Varied (ζ) and Different (β). Each type has weaknesses and strengths against other types (i.e. Lunar is weak to Solar and Spectral, but strong against Elemental) allowing for possible attack combinations allowing for high amounts of damage. The three main playable characters each specialise in their own types.
King Bowie is the courageous ruler of Björnaren. After he was usurped by the mysterious Bananas, Bowie and his family must fight against his own forces, as well as Bananas', in order to retake the throne.
Queen Samantha
Queen Samantha is Bowie's wife, and the queen of Björnaren. After Bowie was usurped, Samantha started training with bows, and is now an excellent markswoman.
Prince Bowie "Ashe" XVIII
Prince Bowie XVIII, better known as Ashe, is King Bowie's eldest child. Even before his father was usurped, Ashe always trained to be a knight, so he would be able to protect himself when he became king.
Princess Shelia
Princess Shelia is King Bowie's youngest child. She was born with the ability to control magic, a rare ability only given to 1/10000 bears. While most of her spells backfire, Shelia is able to use some of the strongest magical powers.

Ashe and Shelia's redesigns for the game resemble Link and Princess Zelda, respectively.
This is the first game in the series to show the characters without stitching of any kind.
This is the first game in which characters, aside from Bananas, have hair. In this case, Samantha, Ashe and Shelia's redesigns all feature them with hair.
In addition, this is the first time in which the four main characters wear any clothing.
