Gemerl is a character in the Sonic the Hedgehog series, introduced in Sonic Advance 3. After the destruction of Emerl in Sonic Battle, Dr. Eggman designed a revised version of him to be the ultimate fighting robot, using the data Emerl left behind to accomplish this. When Eggman broke the earth using Chaos Control to conquer its pieces, Gemerl assisted him in his mission to stop Sonic and his friends from fixing the planet. He joined Eggman in his mechs and eventually made a final stand with him at the Altar Emerald, but ultimately failed as Sonic and his friends managed to restore the earth. Gemerl and Eggman attempted to escape, but Gemerl was severely damaged and thus stole the Chaos Emeralds from Sonic, transforming into Ultimate Gemerl and betraying Eggman so he could destroy the world on his own terms. He was eventually defeated by Sonic and Eggman, however, and he reverted back to normal as he fell to earth.

Gemerl was eventually found by Cream and Vanilla, and was repaired and reprogrammed by Tails to more closely resemble his kind-hearted predecessor Emerl. Currently, he resides with Cream and Vanilla at their house. He has since been featured in the IDW Sonic comics, continuing to use his powers for good to protect Cream and the rest of the world.

Sonic Advance: Fast 4ward[]

Gemerl is one of the three new playable characters in Sonic Advance: Fast 4ward, along with Shadow the Hedgehog and Rouge the Bat. After discovering a cosmic scepter, they are trapped in the dark future world of Chiropterra with Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, and Cream, and they must find the Chaos Emeralds of this future before the Orchid Queen, the ruler of Chiropterra, uses their powers to conquer the world of their own time.
