KingsmanPoster Kingsman: The Secret Service Spy, Action, Comedy An almost Tarantino-esque spy film about a young boy who's fallen down the wrong path and is given a chance to become a part of the secret spy agency known as Kingsman. Kingsman: The Secret Service is a modern take on classic Bond spy films starring Taron Egerton, Colan Firth, and Samuel L. Jackson. Kingsman is Rated R due to its large amount of violence, and also there are like 1 or 2 swear words.

Shaun-of-the-Dead-Poster Shaun of the Dead Zombie, Romantic Comedy A modern classic starring Simon Pegg (Hot Fuzz) and Nick Frost (Paul). Focuses on the life of Shaun, who is trying to piece his life back together - during a zombie apocalypse. It's pretty rude and violent though, so no kids allowed.

Tomorrowland-poster-691x1024 Tomorrowland Action, Sci-Fi Why did this bomb? It's no secret I love this movie and it's retro future mixed with today's modern future. It has somewhat of a unconventional message but I think it's really important as a writer/artist to kind of reflect on. It's a good movie in it's own right too and it's made by Brad Bird. Some weren't crazy for it, but I seriously encourage people to give it a shot. Unlike the other two movies, you can actually watch this one.

Oblivion-930354183-large Oblivion Action, Sci-Fi I've made fun of Tom Cruise in the past but damn if this isn't a good film. It's got a great soundtrack by M83 and great visuals. It's got a lot of twists too and half way through I wasn't exactly sure how everything would end but it ends on a good note with one of the best last lines in cinema. Morgan Freeman also stars in this... what else can I say to get you to watch this? Watch it.

ScottPilgrimPoster Scott Pilgrim vs The World Action, Comedy I'm sure some of you have seen it, but why not post it anyways? A great movie with a good balance of action, comedy, and some surprisingly profound moments. All of this is complimented by its amazing soundtrack that fits the movie well. It's an adaption of the graphic novel series of the sort-of same name, and it captures the comics well with neat visuals and accurate writing.

File:HotFuzzPoster.jpg Hot Fuzz Action, Comedy Seeing as Shaun of the Dead is up there I might as well put in the 2nd in the "Cornetto Trilogy". A fast-paced, witty and action-filled movie that is filled with many tiny details that you'll be finding new little jokes and foreshadowing even on repeated subsequent viewings, topped off with some great performances and an interesting plot that all ties up in the end.

Battle Royale Battle Royale Action, Thriller Battle Royale is a Japanese film, but a subbed version isn't exactly hard to find. In the near future, the Japanese government approve the BR act because the economy is near collapsing or something like that. It doesn't really matter, unless you want to watch the sequel too. A class of 42 students are shipped to a remote island and forced to fight to the death within 3 days. If the three days are up and there's more than one remaining, all of them are killed. The students are given a backpack containing a random weapon, some food and a map so that they can mark off the danger zones. Featuring some great characters, this film is a classic. In case you haven't gathered, this movie isn't for the faint of heart, due to some gory scenes.

RIPDPoster R.I.P.D. Action, comedy A so bad, it's good movie. Ryan Renolds plays a cop who dies and becomes a cop in the afterlife and has to hunt down afterlife criminals who wreck shit in the world of the living, as well going to take revenge against his killer. Ryan Renolds's partner is Jeff Bridges, and man is he having the time of his life, in one of the most entertaining performances in a long time. Ryan Renolds looks dead in this movie. The CGI is terrible it's great. This movie is bizarre to describe, it is a great so bad, it's good movie and it is great to watch with friends or kill an afternoon.

EdgeOfTomorrowPoster Edge of Tommorow Action, sci-fi Tom Cruise plays an annoyning army guy who participates in a war against aliens. He dies, as expected. What isn't expected is that he actually returns back in time to the moment he was picked up to war. Stuck in a time loop where every time he dies he returns back to that exact time, Tom Cruise utilizes this to his advantage to give the human alliance an advantage against the aliens. A very fun movie, with quirky characters and fun dialogue. Tom Cruise gives a surprisingly good performance. Sadly underperformed. People gave money to Transformers 4 instead. Fucking people.

Stand By Me 1986 Poster Stand By Me Adventure, Drama, Comedy Stand By Me is one of my favorite films I like to watch. The Film is based on the Book "The Body" By Stephen King and is about a narrator writes a story about a childhood experience he had with his friends in 1959 (or 1960 in the book.) about finding a dead body of a kid who's their age. The Film Stars Wil Wheaton, River Phoneix, Corey Feldman, Jerry O'Connell and Kiether Sutherland. This film is Rated R (or 15 in the UK) and has some swearing and some grim bits. The Actors do great as their roles and the film shows all types of emotions you experience as a kid. This appears to be one of the best 80s films out there and still holds a place for me. It's worth a watch.

Doom Poster DOOM

Horror,

Adventure,

Thriller

The Doom movie is only vaguely related to Doom at best and as a Doom property its garbage. But looking at it as a cheesy over-the-top action flick with no relation to ID Software's masterpiece it's pretty serviceable. The effects hold up quite well due to them being mostly practical and what little CG they do use also holds up well. The acting is pretty good and overall if you're looking for a mindless action movie. It has quite a bit of swearing and gore so beware.

Johnwickposter John Wick Neo Noir
Action
Thriller
John Wick is a movie I decided to watch myself on my computer after seeing bits of it on TV. It circulates around an ex-hitman named John Wick who seeks vengeance on Iosef for the theft of his car and the death of his puppy. If you are a huge fan for action movies that recently came out in the 2010's, this movie is perfect for you to watch. Though it may not be suitable for young audiences, but for me, I'm okay with it.

Hotel Transylvania Poster-24 Hotel Transylvania Comedy Now, most people have heard of this before, but a lot of people - myself included - didn't watch it because of its ugly posters and inclusion of Kevin James (Paul Blart Mall Cop) and Adam Sandler (Grown Ups). But when I finally decided to watch the film I was shocked at its quality. The jokes are straightforward, but still funny, the characters are half and half, with some awful character design and a character I personally really like, Mavis. The film isn't for everyone, but at least give it a chance as I'm sure there'll be at least one or two things you enjoy about it.

9Poster 9 Sci-fi 9 tells the story of a living ragdoll named Nine, one of nine ragdolls created by a human simply named "Scientist". The world has gone to shit and the machines have taken over the world, with one being the main threat for the life of those ragdolls, a machine known as the Fabrication Machine, the leader of the machines. The ragdolls seeks a plan to end the reign of machines as well trying not to die in the process. Each ragdoll represent a part of the Scientist, like 9 represents the Scientist's humanity. Beautifully animated and it has a very unique look and story progession, it is an underrated gem.
