Drew (ドリュー, Doryū)also named Hero (ヒーロー, Hīrō) in the PAL releases of the game, is a playable newcomer to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Representative of the third party company THQ Nordic (Formerly THQ), he was revealed one month before the release of the game. He represents the Drawn To Life series, which was very important in the Nintendo DS' lifespan. He is the titular "mascot" of the series, often being seen on the boxart of the Drawn To Life games, and is often the first pre-made character on the character creation menus. Drew does not have a voice actor, and makes various noises from it's games. Drew also has a very unique way in animation, where his limbs and head only animate, while his body stays intact, which references his appearance in his home series.

Drew takes his design cues from Drawn To Life: The Next Chapter (Wii), with a more compact model, and less "scribbled and messy" coloring. He still resembles a sketch. His moveset is also based on how versatile the custom characters can be.

Attributes[]

Drew is a character who feels strange. He's a light heavyweight with, low gravity, allowing him to be floaty, but be able to short hop easily and fast fall quickly. He is a fairly average character in terms of speed, however, due to his low traction, his mobility is stilted due to his not so great wavedashing and air dash in general.

Drew's strength is his assortment of abilities. He has many tools that assist and cover his movement faults. He has many ranged attacks, and most of his moveset consists of disjoints and strong attacks, which allow him to rack up damage from away, and zone his opponents away if they get too close. His recovery and his Down Special, Blob, can be very useful offstage, causing him to have one of the best recovery options in the game.

Overall, Drew has many weaknesses in terms of movement and durability, struggling the most when pressured against the faster characters, however, he has many strengths that overcomes his weaknesses.

Jab Drew punches forwards, and then slashes his sword (named "Slasher") over his head, and slams it to the ground. The first punch doesn't have much use other than jab locking, however, the slash is pretty quick for a jab combo and has good range. 4%, 5%
Side Tilt Spins and swipes his monkey tail. This has good range, but is fairly weak. 4%-5%
Up Tilt Raises his slasher upwards horizontally. Similar to Cloud's up air. 5% (Beginning), 3% (End)
Down Tilt Rolls a his "Slinger" on the ground, and pulls it back. This is a great move to gain crowd control, as it can hit multiple opponents in a row. 6%
