CANON APPEARANCES

Cookatiel is a boss from the Mario series, first appearing in Super Mario Odyssey as the second and main boss of the Luncheon Kingdom. In this game, it encounters Mario after the plumber climbs Mount Volbono at the request of the local Volbonans, in order to rescue their Stupendous Stew which is being ruined by Cookatiel. Mario is able to fight it by capturing a Lava Bubble and jumping on the large bird's head three times. After this, Cookatiel falls into the stew, presumably to its death, and Mario is able to collect a Multi Moon.

Cookatiel makes another appearance in the Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo Switch ports of Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker as a boss once again, chasing Captain Toad throughout a course based on the Luncheon Kingdom.

Appearance[]

Cookatiel is a large, pink hen-like bird, dressed in chef's attire, with a white chef's hat, a red neckerchief around its neck and white feathers arranged to look like a shirt. It has a large yellow break with an orange tip, below two eyes. Cookatiel's tail is comprised of long white plumage.

Fanon Appearances[]

Mario Kart: Gold[]

Cookatiel's first playable appearance is in Mario Kart: Gold, where it appears as a downloadable racer as part of the Mario Kart: Gold x Nintendo expansion. Unsurprisingly, Cookatiel is a heavyweight character with a large body frame size. Its emblem is reminiscent of its own face, showing a pink head, with a yellow beak, red neckerchief and white chef hat. Cookatiel is the Staff Ghost for one track, which is Vibrant Volcano.

Trivia[]

  • Cookatiel's name is a portmanteau of "cook" and "cockatiel", both referring to its appearance as a chef and a bird.
